The World Health Organization's Global Centre for Traditional Medicine (GCTM) will follow the same rigorous standards as conventional medicines, according to Dr Shyama Kuruvilla, the WHO lead for GCTM. The GCTM aims to generate evidence and enhance credibility for traditional medicines and therapies used globally. Kuruvilla emphasized the importance of understanding what is effective and what isn't. She praised India's efforts in preserving ancient wisdom and its leadership in traditional medicines. The GCTM will prioritize research and collaborate with the Indian Council of Medical Research to integrate research across traditional and conventional medicine.
