A Drone equipped with a fire hose is being tested in Europe to revolutionize quick-response firefighting. Developed by the University of Coimbra’s Forest Fire Research Laboratory in Portugal, the drone, named SAP, uses symmetrical jet streams to transport water from fire engines to hard-to-reach areas. In a demonstration video, the drone extinguished a burning pile of brush the size of a 4-door sedan in just 15 seconds. Weighing 46 pounds, the user-friendly and lightweight drone is seen as an ideal solution for tackling dangerous fires caused by chemicals or explosives.
