Unmasking suspected North Korean hackers’ tricks

Suspected North Korean hackers are posing as journalists in phishing attacks targeting experts on North Korea issues, according to emails obtained by Radio Free Asia (RFA). While RFA was unable to confirm the identity of the senders or their connection to the North Korean government, the emails strongly suggest phishing attempts to gain access to intelligence or install malware. The hackers posed as reporters for organizations such as Kyodo News, RFA, and Voice of America, asking experts to answer questions or click on malicious links.
