Huge Increase in Transnational Crime in Asia ‘Golden Triangle

According to a report by the UN Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), there has been a significant increase in Transnational Crime in Asia's 'Golden Triangle' region. Synthetic Drug Production and trafficking in the region have expanded, with methamphetamine and ketamine being produced and trafficked in high volumes. Criminal groups are adapting and finding new routes to transport drugs, often hiding them in legal products. The increase in synthetic drug production has been unprecedented, and chemical precursors for manufacturing these drugs are being illegally transported into Myanmar. The report also highlights other cross-border issues such as human trafficking and wildlife crime.
