In the 1970s, Moira began her career as a journalist at the BBC as a production assistant in the Talks and Documentaries department. She went on to work for BBC Radio 4 as an announcer, newsreader, and program presenter. She came to television news in 1981, becoming the first female African-Caribbean newsreader, and served as a varied presenter of the BBC News bulletin until 2007.
