Netflix’s The Sleepover Review: Momma’s An Ex-Thief and She’s Dangerous!

The Sleepover premiered on 21st August 2020 on Netflix. Directed by Trish Sie with a screenplay by Sarah Rothschild, the Film stars Sadie Stanley, Maxwell Simkins, Malin Akerman, Ken Marino, and Joe Manganiello alongside other cast members.

Things Just Got Wild!

The Sleepover revolves around seemingly normal stay-at-home mom Margot who is actually a former high-end thief in the witness protection program. When both their mom and dad are kidnapped and forced to pull one last job with an ex-flame of Margot’s, the siblings must team up to rescue their parents over the course of one action-packed night that they’ll never forget.

The film introduces its characters with charm and leaves you wanting more of them. The Storyline isn’t something extremely fresh but the way the story progresses is watch worthy. Ron (Ken Marino) is presented not only as ordinary to a point of mockery but also as the film’s source of wackiest jokes and silly actions and a mouth that just won’t stay quiet.

You can’t help yourself but root for the kids on the adventure as they come across a storage unit that, on DNA identification, turns into a hidden accessory and weapon room, a cool auto-drive car, solving and finding cues, along with other cool stuff.

We don’t, however, get to know much about Margot Finch/Mathilde’s life as either the house-wife or the thief. The storyline revolves majorly around that one night where the whole mad-run begins and ends. Well, all’s well that ends well.

All in all, The Sleepover is a worth-watching family movie with a light-hearted storyline and charming characters who will tell you that being bad is not good. So, be good. It’s the only path to true happiness and, no matter how vulnerable your present may look, going back to your past is never a good option!

Stream It or Skip It

STREAM IT! While the storyline may look a little cliche The Sleepover is one of those movies that will make you nostalgic, along with a message executed well enough to be loud and clear without having to be said in words.

The friendship between Clancy, Mim, Kevin and Lewis is pure and they’ll go miles for each other. Lucas Jaye as Kevin plays an adorable role. In times where movies are more or less realistic and gritty, this film is refreshing!

The Sleepover is now streaming on Netflix.
