Throughout quarantine, I have watched every Standup that has made its way to Netflix and one of them is Jack Whitehall: I’m Only Joking. While a lot of standups carry on a single theme like drugs or a special story, this one -up surprisingly had various elements to it and hilarious ones!
Whitehall covers a wide range of topics from his first performance in front of the Royal Family, which goes horribly, to talking about vegans and the 12 types of milk when we only need 1, and more.
He asks for “any Americans” and when the crowd hoots he says “Please don’t shoot”. He continues saying that Britain might have village idiots, but the US made their president and well, who are we to disagree this!
One of the most hilarious moments of the standup, which had to find its place here, was when he calls a man’s wife her daughter accidentally on a condom joke! And dear lord, was that hilarious. The embarrassment was clearly visible in Whitehall’s eyes – while the audience laughed crazy and he decided to not look at that side of the audience and carry on. (sushhh!)
Comedians bringing their dads in stand-up is something irresistible and Whitehall moves along those lines too. He jokes about his parent’s relationship and ends the standup with a joke about his father and him in Chernobyl with the crew and ends the show with an exclusive clip from the trip!
Whitehall’s expressions are one of the best things of the stand-up. He flawlessly captures the audience with his small bits of theatrical, making his standup a wholesome deal!
The comedian doesn’t play on drug jokes or insecurities to make audiences laugh. The standups are more of his experiences and about things we know well about (seemingly!) Whitehall carries an amazing personality throughout his set.

STREAM IT! Jack Whitehall: I’m Only Joking is one of the best stand-ups on Netflix – with jokes about love, vegans, his parents, the Royal Family, Brits and Americans, Gummy bear drugs, and more. The standup is a wholesome deal in itself. While some might feel that Whitehall isn’t giving his best, that doesn’t really seem to be the case.
The jokes won’t exactly let you paint a perfect picture since he goes over a lot of topics, but all-in-all, the stand-up is fun! As a first time viewer of Whitehall’s stand up, I found the set hilarious!
