Timothy Olyphant Reportedly to Join Disney’s The Mandalorian

The Mandalorian is about to rope in Timothy Olyphant, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Olyphant is best known for his role in Netflix’s Santa Clarita Diet and the 2007 movie Hitman.

However, Disney+ is yet to confirm whether Olyphant will be playing a new character or reprising an old role in a guise.

The Mandalorian has finished shooting for the second season but there’s much secrecy behind the production. However, certain stars are reported to star in the series including Michael Biehn (Terminator) and Temuera Morrison, who is returning as the fan favourite Boba Fett.

The Mandalorian’s second season is slated to release in October on Disney+. Inspite of people being anxious about the show’s release being delayed, Mandalorian will come out on time. Directors Robert Rodriguez (Alita: Battle Angel) and Peyton Reed (Ant-Man) will be joining returning director Dave Filloni and creator Jon Favreau.

Olyphant seems to be a good fit for the gunslinging world of The Mandalorian, considering his roles in TV shows like Justified and Deadwood. Other actors featuring in the second season are Luke Cage, Rosario Dawson.

The Mandalorian’s filming was wrapped up just before the world shut down due to the coronavirus pandemic. However, the show makers are facing some difficulties regarding post-production work, particularly in finishing its many effects shots. A typical season of The Mandalorian has about 4000 effects shots and doing all of them from home is a big challenge. The extensive effects and audio work required in post are really taking a toll on the editors.

However, other shows have not been so fortunate. Disney had to push back the release of several high-profile releases on the steaming service after production work shut down. These include The Falcon and the Winter Soldier and WandaVision. The former was supposed to come out on Disney+ in August while WandaVisionwas slated for a December release. Unfortunately, it is now unclear whether the shows will be able to be release this year at all. Along with Disney, Netflix also has several shows stuck in post-production including The Umbrella Academy season 2.

The second season of The Mandalorian is extremely hyped among fans. Considering how well the first season did, it does not come as surprise though. Following its success, Disney is now supposedly working on the third season of the Star Trek spinoff series. The first season came out in December 2019 and earned both praises from fans and critical acclaim.
