Intel’s 10th Gen Comet Lake-H Core i7-10750H CPU Benchmarks Show Dismal Performance

It’s no secret that even the 10th Gen Intel CPU lineup (at least the desktop and mobile gaming one) will once again be based on the 14nm Skylake Core. We’re talking about the Comet Lake U, Y (LP notebook), H (gaming laptops) and S (desktop) lineups. These parts will be the same as their predecessors, except with beefed up clocks and in some cases, increased core counts. The IPC and single-threaded performance will largely be unchanged. We’ve already seen multiple Comet Lake benchmarks and with the exception of the desktop flagship, the Core i9-10900K, they’re not very impressive:

Today, we’ve got another Geekbench score of the 10th Gen Core i7-10750H and it’s rather dismal:

As you can see, ignoring the core clocks, the two CPUs are basically identical, performing within 5% of one another. The core clock here largely irrelevant as (like the 9750H) only a select few laptops will be able to hit it or sustain it. So much for 10th Gen…

For the sake of relevance, we’ve compared the older and newer models of the HP Omen. It’d be fair to say that since the CPU is mostly the same, the laptop cooling won’t change by much either. Intel’s 10th Gen Comet Lake CPUs are expected to launch in March.

Earlier, we heard that the desktop lineup had been pushed back as OEMs couldn’t keep the 10-core i9-10900K within acceptable power limits, forcing the company to delay the launch. The chip has an impressive 5.3GHz boost clock, and possibly a 4GHz+ all-core boost, but it’ll be interesting to see how much power it draws and what it takes to cool it.
