10th Gen Intel Core i5-9300H Mobile Gaming CPU Only 11% Faster than 9th Gen 9300H

At this point, it’s no secret that the 10th Gen Intel Comet Lake lineups will be another 14nm Skylake rehash. Same chips with higher Core clocks and improved memory support. Yes, it’s the third consecutive refresh of the same core architecture.

Ignoring the tiny boost in the core clocks, the two chips are literally identical. Same core and thread count, same cache, TDP paired with an updated memory controller. Considering the negligible change in specifications, we expect a 5-10% boost in real-world performance. And looks as though we’re right. A media outlet has shared the Cinebench 20 score of the Core i5-10300H, and the CPU is just 11% faster than the present-gen 9300H

Considering that the Ryzen 4000 Renoir APU lineup features the 7nm Zen 2 microarchitecture with as many as 8 cores and 16 threads, Intel’s mobile chips will be facing intense competition this year. The Core i7-9750H ran hot and throttled hard, greatly reducing its potential peaks. Considering that the 10th Gen Core i7-10750H will be clocked even higher, it’s going to be another underutilized CPU in most notebooks.
