Famous Actors Who Voiced Surprising Characters

If you want to create a video website, searching for fun videos to upload is half the battle. Gathering clips from movies and asking questions makes for great content that will keep your audience entertained. We all love animated films, but do we always recognize the actors that voice the characters? Here are some that might surprise you!

Lots of actors who have found fame and fortune on the big screen are then offered opportunities to lend their well-known voices to animated movies. Here they can become much-loved characters, adored by children and adults alike all over the world!

We have probably heard of the big ones, Mike Myers as Shrek, Kristen Bell as Anna from Frozen, Ellen DeGeneres as Dory in Finding Nemo. However, there are some films where the famous actors took more of a backs step and are, therefore, far lesser-known.

So what are some examples of actors who voiced surprising characters? Let’s take a look:

George Clooney – Fantastic Mr. Fox

Clooney is best known for his role in the TV show ER, as well as parts in big box office hits such as Oceans Eleven. However, he also used his smooth voice to portray the intriguing character of Fantastic Mr. Fox in the Wes Anderson film, which is based on the celebrated novel by Roald Dhal.

Hugh Jackman – Happy Feet

Hugh Jackman is probably best known for playing the ferocious Wolverine, as well as being the lead in the popular movie The Greatest Showman. However, he also played a much more lovable character when he transformed into the penguin with the power to dance in the impressive 2006 animation, Happy Feet.

Alec Baldwin – Rise of the Guardians

The Rise of the Guardians sees a whole host of children’s favorite mythical characters working together to save the world from evil. The Tooth Fairy, the Easter Bunny, and even Santa Claus make an appearance, the latter voiced perfectly by Baldwin, naturally!

Jaleel White – Sonic the Hedgehog

Everyone’s favorite hedgehog gets involved in all sorts of adventures in this fun movie that appeals to both kids and their parents (who probably spent many a happy hour playing the video game when younger). However, not many know that Jaleel White, who is best known as Steve Urkel on the sitcom Family Matters, also took on the lead role as Sonic himself

Fergie – Sally Brown from Peanuts

Fergie is best known for being the lead singer in the funky pop band, The Black Eyed Peas. Here Fergie takes on a far more innocent role as the voice of Sally Brown, Charlie Brown’s kid sister. She voiced the character on three Peanuts animated TV specials created way back in the 1980s.

Meg Ryan – Captain Planet and the Planeteers

Meg Ryan is Hollywood royalty with her most famous roles involving playing a blue-eyed, smart-talking loveable lady in romantic comedy films such as ‘When Harry Met Sally’ or ‘You’ve Got Mail.’ However, she is much less well known for starring as Dr. Blight from Captain Planet and the Planeteers. Ryan played the character for the whole of the first series of the show before finding mega-fame and becoming loved by audiences across the globe.

James Avery – Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles

We know funny actor James Avery for his role, playing the eternally exasperated Uncle Philips Banks from the series that saw the likes of film star Will Smith start on their pathway to superstardom – The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. However, not many people would be able to name the actor as the person who voiced Shredder, the arch-enemy to Splinter, and the turtles as well.

Christopher Walken – King Louie in The Jungle Book

Almost everyone knows the story of Rudyard Kipling’s, where a young boy called Mowgli is adopted and brought up by wolves, only to have to make his return to the man-village. One of the most unforgettable characters from this epic adventure is King Louie, the great ape who desperately wants to be a human. There have been many movie versions of this tale released over the years, but the most contemporary effort sees Walken take on the role, and true to his style, he made it much grittier and more sinister than ever before!

These famous actors all chose to lend their voices to some of our most beloved animated characters and really brought them to life!
