The Doomsday Clock was set at 100 seconds at midnight, and, according to scientists, the closest point of humanity is to armageddon.
Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists
The Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists–the non-profit organization running a symbolic Clock founded in 1947–changed the countdown from 2 minutes to 1minute and 40 seconds to Midnight on Thursday, citing the potential nuclear war and the growing threat of climate change.
“We convey how close the planet is in seconds to the disaster— not in hours or even minutes,” said Rachel Bronson, President, and CEO of the Bulletin, in a statement.
Today, the #DoomsdayClock moved forward:
It is 100 seconds to midnight.
Historically, the Clock has moved both forward & backward. Notably, it turned back in 1991, 1972 & 1969.

The threat of nuclear war has risen as tensions with Russia, Iran, and North Korea have increased, the group said. A revived nuclear arms race could be at hand should separate arms control deals broke out during the last year.
Breakthrough National Center For Climate Restoration
A report published in Australia last year by the Breakthrough national center for climate restoration found that climate change poses an existential threat to humanity that can cause global drought and dryness unless significant action is taken to reduce greenhouse emissions as quickly as possible.
If not, humanity, as we know it, may be reborn and brought to an end by 2050— just 30 years from now — researchers said.
Another danger that could lead to the end of humanity has also been listed in the Bulletin of the Atomic scientists: cyber-based knowledge. The organization said that governments used misinformation to weaken domestic and international peace efforts.
In the last four years, the Doomsday Clock got closer to midnight. The clock during 2017 was adjusted to midnight by 3 minutes, in 2018 by 2.5 minutes and not changed in 2019.
