A Marshall gynecologist is rejecting that he physically groped a 16-year-old girl eight years ago, his attorney said on Tuesday.

Marshall defense attorney, Thomas Schaeffer said that “The allegation is from 2011 and we do not think it has any confidence. It is what in vogue. I have been held newly on six or eight ‘me too’ sort of issues.”

He further said that “Everyone who gets close to the holidays has a revelation about something 10 years ago that made them feel uncomfortable.”

The 55-year-old Dr. Mark Walker is an obstetrician and gynecologist in Marshall since 1995. He was arraigned on Thursday in Calhoun County District Court on a charge of fourth-degree criminal physical conduct. The charge is a high court misdemeanor, which is observed by law as a misdemeanor but bears a penalty as though it is a crime of up to two years in prison.

The 55-year-old doctor is accused of physically touching a 16-year-old girl on March 1, 2011. The incident was reported six months ago to the Marshall police.

David Gilbert, the Calhoun County Prosecutor stated that the charge claims that Walker “did involve in physical contact with another person utilizing force or coercion.”

Gilbert refused further remark on the case.

Walker arrived for his arraignment and was released on personal recognizance with a bond of  $1,000. the defense attorney and prosecutors are scheduled to meet on Thursday for a pre-exam discussion and a preliminary review is scheduled on December 19 before Judge Tracie Tomak.

The victim’s Mother Stated that her daughter, then a student at Marshall High School, had been registered in a health program at the Calhoun Area Career Center and designated as a portion of the curriculum as a job shadow in a doctor’s office in Marshall.

Her Mother said that “her daughter was advanced by the 55-year-old doctor and ordered her to go inside a room with him and she did not have any idea about what was going on and he touched her crotch area. She was embarrassed.”

However, the mother stated that her daughter never told her or possibly anyone else about the incident.

In 2017 Walker extended the sister of the alleged victim an internship as part of a nursing program, the mother stated.

It was then the victim told them about the incident as a warning to her sister, the mother stated.

That was two years ago and the mother stated that she did not understand what to do about the allegation and talked with many people, including Physical Assault Services and attorneys until the mother and daughter informed it to the Marshall police about six months ago.
