John Woo Fears That Marvel Movies Predispose Spectators

Less then a month ago, a director criticized the plot and makers of Superhero movies for their over-exaggerated dramatic plots and it is not even a month when another director has come up and criticized these superhero movies.

John Woo recounted a story where the late ‘Stan Lee’ really approached the “Red Cliff” director to head a superhero movie, but he disagreed.

Woo sais, “I do not have that gift, I am not a sci-fi guy and I do not think I could make a good one. There is so much imagination involved and I do not think I can reach that level.

He further added that the Marvel Movies are now commanding the conversations and have become the standard and the emerging audiences will apparently lose a taste of what “real cinema” is.

Martin Scorsese recently defined what that “real cinema” looks like in an op-ed that served to clarify his controversial viewpoints about Marvel movies. “What is not there,” he wrote, “ MCU is a mystery, discovery or genuine touching danger. These kinds of movies are made to satisfy particular and specific demands of the audience and they are designed as variations on the unlimited number of themes.”

Francis Ford Coppola also had to explain again what exactly he intended when he called Marvel movies “despicable,” and blamed his Rome Film Festival nonsense that went viral. Marvel Cinematic Universe’s veteran Mark Ruffalo recently took a dig at Scorsese’s viewpoints but missed the target totally, completely neglecting Scorsese’s strenuous attempts to wrest well-known movies from disintegration through his Foundation of Films.

Marvel Cinematic Universe’s movie, apart from all the criticizations, has created a huge fan base and generated billions of dollars of revenue in the film industry. Although many eminent personalties are now coming forward to blame these movies for suppressing the real aura of cinema, at last, it all depends on the audience and their choices.
