A Choir Teacher Has Been Hailed For Calmly Rendering First Aid To A Student Wounded In Thursday’s California School Shooting Amid The Chaotic Scene

On Thursday’s California School Shooting, a school teacher renders first aid to a student wounded amid the chaotic scene, the choir teacher has been hailed for helping the student in that chaotic scene.

Eddie Mendoza, 17-year-old, one of the students gathered in Katie Holt’s barricaded classroom, stated Holt was “literally a hero” for doing what she did,  a source reported.

Holt took effort when another student said that she had been hit, a source reported. She also blocked her classroom with a piano.

As Holt dressed the girl’s injury with a gunshot wound kit, the girl said her she had another bullet wound.

According to a source, Holt stated that “I used what I could to dress her other injury and she was responsive, she was joking around a little bit. She was very strong.”

The girl was amongst the five students shot at Saugus High School in Santa Clarita on Thursday morning when a student on his 16th birthday started a gunshot with a .45 caliber handgun, police stated. Two of the students were killed in the gunfire.

On Friday, the Los Angeles County Coroner’s office identified one of those who was killed as Gracie Anne Muehlberger, 15-year-old, a source reported.

The police said that after shooting the students the shooter shot himself in the head and was in critical condition.

A source reported that the girl Holt treated underwent an operation at Holy Cross Medical Center.

“It was just so difficult listening to her say ‘I want my mom,‘” Eddie stated of the wounded girl. “It was really heartbreaking.”

“Our teacher was very confident and collected,” one student named Pamela stated of Holt during an interview.

Pamela stated about 35 students were holed up with the teacher expecting for police to arrive. She said they all remained calm. Police arrive and reached them after about 30 minutes.

The girl stated the distress left her feeling “numb” as she sought to console other classmates shaken by the incident, according to a source.

“I just feel distant from it,” she stated.

Standing beside her as she was interviewed her father said that“I’m sure it will hit you later.”
