Minister Speaks On Fresh Move To Scrap NYSC

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Mohammed Bello yesterday condemned calls for scrapping of the National Youths Service Corps, saying the Scheme has helped in cementing Nigeria’s unity. 

The minister spoke in Abuja through his Senior Special Adviser on Administration, Prof. Mohammed Usman, at the opening ceremony of the 2019 Nysc Annual Management Conference. 

He urged graduates to ensure go through the one year national service as it is a call to serve their fatherland. 

He advised the NYSC management and staff to use the conference to review the policies and work out modalities to make the scheme better. 

NYSC Director-General Brigadier-General Shuaibu Ibrahim said the conference was for top managers of the scheme to critically review the policies and operations of the scheme with a view to evolving strategies for enhanced performance. 

He said the Federal Government had always supported the NYSC with prompt release of funds and provision of security, among others.
