Starbucks Butterbeer Latte

Starbucks Butterbeer Latte is super easy to make and sure to be a HUGE hit with all the Harry Potter fans in your house. Who can resist the flavors of espresso, toffee, and caramel all mixed together in one frothy mug?

Anyone who has been visiting this site for a while knows I’m a big Harry Potter fan. I fell in love with the books when I was in college and I still love the magic, mystery, and thrills the stories have to offer.

Well, I have been dreaming of going to Universal Studios to see Harry Potter World for YEARS, and this year we finally made it happen. It was an incredible experience and a trip of a lifetime!

J.K. Rowling concocted a special drink for Harry Potter called Butterbeer. In the world of Hogwarts, it was the chosen drink served at the tavern in Hogsmeade.

We got to try Butterbeer and Pumpkin Juice. We bought wands and even toured Hogsmeade and Gringotts. It was such a magical experience!

I had to make some Harry Potter Pumpkin Juice of our own! And while it was not the ‘real’ thing, it was absolutely scrumptious.

So in honor of that and knowing that Harry Potter’s birthday is right around the corner, it’s time to make this Copycat Starbucks Butterbeer Latte.

All you need are a few simple ingredients. It is likely that you won’t have all of them on hand, but once you have them, you will be able to make these tasty lattes for yourself and all your Harry Potter lovers over and over again!

Starbucks Butterbeer Latte Recipe Notes And Tips

  • If you cannot find toffee nut syrup, toast 1/2 cup of pecans. Then add to a saucepan with 1 cup of brown sugar and 1 cup of water over medium heat. Bring to a simmer, then reduce to medium-low and reduce liquid by half. Store in a cool spot in your kitchen.
  • If you do not have a frother, it is still pretty simple to froth the milk for this latte. First pour milk into a large jar about 1/3 full and screw on the lid tightly. Shake very vigorously for about 45 seconds to a minute until the milk is frothy and doubled in volume.
  • The size of coffee cup or mug you use is entirely up to you. I would suggest an 8 or 10 oz cup as a good size for your butterbeer latte.

Variations Of Starbucks Butterbeer Latte To Try

  • Add a couple dashes of cinnamon. YUM!
  • Sprinkle on a little sea salt on the top for some salty/sweet goodness.
  • Drop some toffee bits on the top of the latte before serving.

FAQs

What is the difference between caramel sauce and caramel syrup?

Caramel sauce is made with cream and butter so it is thicker and richer in taste. Caramel syrup is thinner and contains more sugar.

Can I make the Starbucks Butterbeer Latte ahead of time?

This is one of those beverages that I would not recommend making ahead of time. This is a one serving recipe so you will only be making enough for one. You can double it or triple it if need be but if you like it warm/hot you will want to serve it immediately.

Can I serve my Starbucks Butterbeer Latte cold instead of hot?

Definitely! So why not add a little dollop of whipped cream on the top. YUMMY!

How long will my Starbucks Butterbeer Latte stay fresh?

While fresh is best, your latte can be kept in the fridge for up to 2 days in a sealed container. (Reminder: This recipe only makes one serving so if you make more, this is the best way to store any extra latte.)

Is there actually beer in this Starbucks Butterbeer Latte?

NO! This is a non-alcoholic drink despite the reference in the name. This is a family-friendly drink.
