Halloween is coming quickly — which means you should start looking for your
costume, especially if you’re thinking of going the “Mommy and me” route!

Although there are typically not a lot of options for buying a mommy and me costume set, you can find them if you look early enough. Try looking on Etsy as well as in local stores.

But keep in mind that these types of costumes seem to fly off the shelves every year. 

The costume doesn't need to be extravagant to be amazing.

Mommy and Me Halloween Costume Idea for 1-3 Month Olds

At this age, your newborn isn’t quite ready to sit up on their own. If your baby is in this age group, the best costumes are the ones where you can use an infant carrier. The trick is to get clever on how to disguise your infant carrier to become part of your costume.

For a baby who can’t sit up yet, play with costume ideas they can sleep in. After all, this is the age where all they want to do is sleep anyway. Dress your baby as a hotdog so they can lay in their costume comfy and cozy (especially if you live where the weather at night is cooler).

Meanwhile, mom can dress as the hot dog eating contestant.

Mom and Baby Costume Idea for 3-6 Month Olds

Just because your baby is able to sit up on their own doesn’t mean you can’t still rock the baby carrier. However, since your baby isn’t walking yet, you can also take advantage that they can’t be on the move.

Some costumes that would look adorable for baby in an upright position would be the Cheshire Cat while mommy has the option of being Alice or the Mad Hatter (Alice in Wonderland). Another idea might be to dress up your baby as a bag of popcorn.

Mommy and Me Costume Idea for 6-9 Month Olds

Baby is crawling at this age, if not walking. Either way, they are on the move. What better way to dress them up to go along with their movements like a Dalmation? If you’re a fan of Disney’s 101 Dalmations, this could be fun for you, as Mommy, to dress up in the glam of Cruella DeVille while your baby has a warm costume to keep her snug during the cold trick or treat night.

Or…go with the Mini Me idea!

Another Disney favorite is Mickey and Minnie. If you’re wanting to keep it simple, you and baby can both wear mouse ears with a little face paint and you’ll be set to go! Make sure that if you do decide to do a mouse nose or whiskers on baby, that the makeup is safe for their skin to avoid any skin irritations.

Mom and Baby Halloween Costume Idea for 9-12 Month Olds

At this age, your little one is getting closer to walking if not walking already. If you want to play off of their walking abilities, a costume that requires a baby walker might be a perfect choice.

You can do the old “Senior citizens on a walker” bit together. Or get creative with a way in which you can make the walker blend into the costume.
