StarTimes set to sign new deal with Ghana FA

Head of marketing department, StarTimes Limited Akofa Banson has said the company will hold talks with the new GFA administration over a possible new deal, Ghana Web reports.

The Chinese pay-TV firm had initially signed a ten-year Deal with the Ghana FA in 2016 to acquire media rights for the Ghana Premier League, MTN FA Cup, the Women’s League and everything else owned by the association.

At a press conference to reveal the launch of the Bundesliga Football School, Banso also confirmed that the StarTimes were still keen on the deal and would be meeting with the Ghana FA to discuss the future.

“We are glad that there a new team in place and we congratulate the president, vice president and his team. We are very happy that finally, this has happened.

“As we’ve always said we are still interested in partnering the FA for Ghana football. So, we are in talks to see how we can get back in the picture with them to do football as we’ve done in the past”.

“We’ve not hidden the fact that we are still interested in partnering the FA, the Ghana Premier League any other properties that are available for us.

“There is a new FA and a lot has happened so we are opened to everything. We are opened to discuss and do whatever will take Ghana football forward”, she said.
