Mikel Arteta sets the record straight as Arsenal to bank on attractiveness in Expected Summer Transfer spree

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta has moved to set the record straight when it comes to the attractiveness level that exists in north London, as the Spanish headmaster is soon to begin preparations for an expected summer transfer push at the Emirates Stadium.

Football.London recently posted full quotes from the embargoed section of Arteta’s press conference as the Gunners are set to clash with Bruno Lage’s Wolves outfit tomorrow night at the Molineux, with the Arsenal manager covering a wide range of topics which included just how attractive of a destination the club remains in the wake of multiple January disappointments.

Arteta recently remarked on not pressing home their January transfer efforts when players like Olympique Lyonnais’ Bruno Guimarães completed moves to Newcastle United, stating that the club would not rush to secure deals for additions that they feel would not truly improve the team.

The Premier League giants missed out on a blockbuster move for Serbian starlet Dušan Vlahović before he walked the well-trodden road from Firenze to Turin when he completed a move to Italian institution Juventus, while also failing to secure terms that would have seen Brazilian midfielder Arthur arrive at the club from The Old Lady before the window closed. But despite the setbacks, Arteta insights that Arsenal remains a club that every player wants to come to.

When asked how confident he is for the club completing key deals in the upcoming summer in the wake of failing to secure a move for Vlahović, Arteta remained confident in the club’s pull on the best and brightest in the game: “Absolutely. We have the tradition, what the club inspires, what we are as a club, it’s enormous. Everybody wants to play for Arsenal. I haven’t had one time on the phone a player or a member of staff when it comes to recruitment, that doesn’t want to come to join Arsenal. That’s for sure. Then if they go for financial reasons, that’s something else. But the willingness to come and be part of this, I haven’t experienced something different I’m sorry.”

Arsenal ramping up for summer spending spree

Despite missing out on Dušan Vlahović, Arsenal is fully expected to spend big in the summer on a wealth of reinforcements across multiple positions in the first-team, and Mikel Arteta’s confidence in the club’s ability to attract players speaks to the plans he and the Arsenal hierarchy likely have in store.

A late move for Alexander Isak, while also a failed attempt, showed that the club has identified a long-term main option in the number 9 role as paramount to the club’s prospects both in the short term and for the next few seasons. In that light, the club continues to be linked with the likes of LOSC Lille’s Jonathan David as well as Everton’s Dominic Calvert-Lewin.

With AS Roma expected to come back in for Granit Xhaka in the summer and Egyptian international Mohamed Elneny also potentially on the chopping block in a few months’ time, multiple midfield reinforcements are expected; possibly one key signing with another in the mould of the same profile of Sambi Lokonga.

The Gunners will also need a right-back to deputize for Takehiro Tomiyasu as Calum Chambers already left the club in January for Aston Villa, while Cédric Soares is also likely to be on his way out of the Emirates. Enter a signing akin to Nuno Tavares.

As Arsenal have made their transfer blueprint abundantly clear during a highly successful summer window, the Gunners look set to keep faith in adding quality into the team that can not only immediately improve their productivity and performance levels on the pitch, but also that comes with a window of progression that the club can look to rely on as they hopefully maneuver into position to once again be challengers for Premier League honours.
