The New Grading System Of Delta State Polytechnic Ozoro
There has been a lot happening in Ozoro Polytechnic lately, of which change in grading system is one of the trending issues that student are faced with.
Now what is this new grading system? The new rector has promised since he stepped on that office that he is not after beautifying the School with Structures like the former rector did but rather he want to produce quality student that at the end of the day can be useful citizen to the Nation. Ozoro polytechnic since it foundation has been operating on a grading system that is different from most schools, infact the grading system practiced by Ozoro Poly is quite different from the generally accepted standard for Universities and polytechics, but this new rector Rev. Prof. Job Akpodiete has changed everything(grading system) to suite the generally accepted standard. The change in grading system is shown below.
NEW GRADING SYSTEM
75% & above— A— 4.00
70 to 74% —AB — 3.50
65 to 69% —B —3.25
60 to 64% —BC — 3.00
55 to 59% —C —2.75
50 to 54% —CD — 2.50
45 to 49% –D– 2.25
40 to 44% —E– 2.00
Below 40% —F– 0.00
The above is now the new grading system in Ozoro poly. from the above grading, when you score below 40 you then carry the course over to next year, unlike before when 40 is C.
REASON NOT TO HAVE CARRY OVER
The new grading grading system has change allot of things unlike before when someone score 40 marks it C, things are no longer like that. You can see the weight of each grade above, as you might have already known as a fresher(new student) that the courses offered differs in unit e.i 3, 2 and 1 unit courses. To boost your result, that is to fall under distinction or upper credit one have to be vigilant and careful not to score below A or AB in his or her 3 unit courses. When calculating result the unit of the course is multiplied by it weight. So if a student have an F in 3 or any other unit course it will be multiplied by it weight which is 0.00, therefore making the outcome to be zero. By the time the person have 2 to 3 carry overs the result will be reduced in a way that you can not imagine, so therefore my advice is that one should strive so hard to avoid F (carry over) by reading seriously.
