Charging is possible by using a regular wall plug or a Charging station. Public charging is always done through a charging station. How fast the EV can charge depends on the charging station (EVSE) used and the maximum charging capacity of the EV. The table below shows all possible options for charging the Hyundai Kona Electric 64 kWh. Each option shows how fast the battery can be charged from empty to full.
Hyundai Kona Charging Facilities
The electric SUV can be charged up to 80 per cent in 57 minutes through the DC Quick Charger CCS Type 2 (50 kW). Hyundai will provide two chargers with Kona — a 7.2 kW AC Wall Box Charger and a 2.8 kW Portable Charger. The 7.2 kW AC Wall Box Charger will take around 6 hours and 10 minutes for a full charge, while the 2.8 kW Portable Charger will take 19 hours to completely juice up the battery.
