We are becoming GDPR compliant | Market Forever

Market Forever is becoming GDPR compliant!

We are in the process of changing our privacy policy- your now entitled to more control and rights over the personal information that Companies can hold on you. This is what GDPR compliant means handing back control.

Have you heard these before?

It seems that everyone has recently gone crazy about the GDPR law which has come in effect today. But what does it actually mean for us as consumers and us as business magnets. Market Forever team has done your research for you.

We have seen so many emails with different types of messages sent through, but does that make them really compliant. What is the minimum requirement and what was just paranoia.

We were inquisitive to see different approaches taken by companies and the reaction by the general public. Lets start with the reactions. We asked 20 people what their opinion is on this? Surprisingly most of them didn’t care, thought companies will find a way, wondered about the effect of Brexit and were happy to unsubscribe from some of the ‘junk’ emails they receive.

One lady went as far as to say she would ignore all the mails until she figures out if she missed them. Then she may re-subscribe again.

Companies have sent email campaign of change in privacy policy to the actual filling of consent forms again whilst Banks and NHS have not made an attempt thus far to rectify their records. Would the ICO be happy about this? Definitely not.

When a regular person wants to withdraw their person details from the business list- all they have to do is simply contact the companies GDPR team and make a enquiry/complaint. However this option may not be available for every information- such as your personal bank details of a loan company or from a credit check company. There are other legislation that gives obligations for companies to hold such information for few years in order to provide proof.

Companies are under restriction to show proof of consent that they have informed their database of a change in policy as well as attaching the policy. In some companies, there needs to be an appointed GDPR specialist who will be dealing with queries and complaints. There are 5 categories in which right consent can be obtained. This will be discussed on the next blog ‘Tips for GDPR compliance’.
