How to Disable Factory Reset using SureLock

Factory Reset is a built-in, software reset feature in Android devices designed to restore the device to its original manufacturer settings so that it functions as if fresh out of the box. This may benefit a new owner of an old device however can be harmful in an enterprise setting.

Why do enterprises need to disable Factory Reset?

Factory reset effectively wipes all data, settings, and applications that were previously running on the device. If a device already has a kiosk lockdown solution installed, performing a factory reset will wipe all data and disable the lockdown as well. This could result in the following consequences:

  • Users will be able to access unapproved applications and device settings
  • Admins will not be able to remotely manage the device, track the devices or apply restriction policies
  • Sensitive company information will be lost

Thus, it is necessary to disable the Factory Reset option in Enterprise Android devices.
