These Are The Top 25 Digital Marketing Design Trends for 2018

The world of Visual design is always evolving. Trends disappear almost as soon as they emerge. In such a dynamic ecosystem, it pays to be ahead of time. This countdown of 2018’s top expected digital marketing trends is meant to keep you ahead of the game.

Symmetrical designs, generic images, muted Color schemes, subtle typography were all great in 2017 but won’t cut it with clients this year. Be bold, stand out could well be the principle that should govern your online presence especially web designs. Be prepared to think out of the box and be different—a sure way to catch people’s attention.

Ditch generic

The assembly line approach won’t be a hit in 2018. Customized, authentic images and rich media content will catch the eye. Stock pictures will need to be made into memes. The more personalized a photo, the more eye-catching it’s poised to be.

Double Images

User-generated content or self-captured images will be even more authentic. An interesting development will be the popularity of hand-drawn images and caricatures. They look abstract and unique and can take your visuals to another level altogether.

Be bold

Bold and loud colors used aesthetically will work.  Muted colors, that have tints or shades of black, are on their way out. Pastels are also another popular option. Color transitions of the same color create striking visuals. To find winning color combinations, use the Colorhunt tool. Images overlaid on a background of the same color, give a 3D effect.

Classic duotone is definitely on the wane this year. Use channel color splitting to create edgy double-colored visuals. Superimpose two layers of the same image in monochrome, to create amazing double images that look in motion.

Experiment with typography

Typography still rules but will be more creative. Cropped typography will be a hot trend. It requires erasing parts of letters or numerals while still keeping them readable. Use unorthodox alphabetical order or letter arrangements to make creative words- chaotic typography. Bigger, bolder fonts will be in vogue. Use real-life elements such as human figures or animal silhouettes to create letters- the effort will be truly worth it. Try it out if you’re planning to experiment with new logo designs.

Chaotic Typography

Shadowed fonts and floating typography give an illusion of 3D and look great in all types of visuals. Detailing in fonts will be replaced by minimalistic styled fonts that look sparse but make a big impact.

Moving images

Static images will be replaced by gifs. Animating portions of images (cinemagraphs) while keeping the others motionless, will also work well. Loop images together and move them like a marquee.

Distorted images

Holographic designs will get phased out this year. They will be replaced by color channels and distorted images. Asymmetrical images and forms will be popular. “Ruined” images (slices of the same image placed randomly resulting in weird-looking images) will be seen outside of horror films.

Vary layouts

Design templates will still be used by designers who love experimenting with layouts and design elements. Content will be split into two adjacent frames- one with graphics and the other with text- to make good use of space.

Negative empty spaces

Low-poly designs that emerged in 2017 will be used more widely. They combine bright colors, bold hues, color transitions, and hand-drawn text and caricatures, to give a three-dimensional look and feel. Negative empty space in layout and typography is posed to be another hot trend.

Add a little pep to your digital marketing strategy this year with these tips!
