Being Single is Not a Curse

HELP! I’m Cursed!!! Ahhh, the famous shrieks we hear from singles all across the globe. If you’ve been single for a long time or are having no luck finding Love, you may start to wonder whether or not you are cursed. Maybe some witch in a far-away land put some magical spell on you to never find love.

Yea…that’s the most logical conclusion. Look, people, witches, and wizards have way more important things to do than worry about casting love spells on you. They’re too busy shining their brooms and polishing their wands. You are not cursed. We repeat, you are NOT cursed.

Dating is Hard

The first thing we want to address is that dating is hard. If it were easy, everyone would have already found their special someone and the world would be all rainbows and butterflies. The reality, though, is that Finding Love and dating is tough. We always hear all these amazing stories of people falling in love with their high school sweethearts and most of us want to vomit. Why do they get to find love so easily and the rest of us have to struggle through this world?

We don’t have an answer to that question in case you are wondering. What you need to realize, though, is that those people are not the norm. They are anomalies who ended up winning the love lottery. For the rest of us, dating is hard. While that doesn’t help you, it should make you feel better to know that it’s not you that is doing anything wrong. The process itself is hard.

Being Single is Not that Bad?

If we had a nickel for every time someone said this to a single person, we would be professional nickel collectors. This is a phrase that people in love say to people who are struggling to find someone special. Here’s the thing. Yes, they are correct, but this is the worst advice to give someone who is looking. If you’ve heard this from your friends and family, we are apologizing for them.

It’s true because being single should not feel like the end of the world. When you find someone special, they should compliment you. They should not be something that you require to be happy. If that’s the case, then you may want to work on your own happiness before trying to bring someone else into the mix. That very well may be the reason you’re still single.

The reason this is bad advice, though, is because, for a lot of you, you’re at a point in your life where you are ready to find that special someone. You are ready to move on to the next stage of your life. There is nothing wrong with being ready to take the next step. Remember, though, your friends and family are probably saying this out of a place of love to help you feel better so don’t bit their heads off.

What to Do if You’re Stuck

You probably should just give up; being single is not that bad. KIDDING! Seriously, we are kidding. While it’s hard to address everyone’s situations because they are usually quite unique, we can give you a few tips to give things a boost.

  1. Be patient. Yes, this is another annoying piece of advice, but it’s the truth. No matter how motivated you are, you can’t make the right person show up overnight. You can help speed up the process, but you can’t force it.
  2. Make sure you’re looking in the right places. We’ve got a handy How to Find Singles In Your Area guide that might be a good read for you.
  3. Commit some time to the process. If you’re just expecting the person to magically show up, you’re doing it wrong. Commit some time to going places to meet new people or commit some time to online dating. This means taking time to search through matches and actually sending out some messages. Just joining an online dating site might get them to magically message you, but you still want to put in some effort.

Above all else, though, remember that you are not cursed. There is nothing wrong with you, and you will find what you are looking for. There are millions of people out there looking for love, and we guarantee that the right person for you is in that bunch. The key is being patient, looking in the right places, and committing to the process.
