Solfeggio scale and frequencies

Conscious Life Space

The Solfeggio Scale is a six tone scale. You can think of it as a scale that uses syllables, for instance do-re-mi…etc. which we translate today as c,d,e…etc. It was a vocal scale and later more tones were added to it. The Solfeggio scale uses the frequency of 432Hz as its base pitch which means A is tuned to 432Hz (A=432Hz). Today the current tuning standard the musical note A is tuned to 440Hz (A=440Hz). That came about in the early 20th century after new sound technology was created in the late 19th century. Before standardization, the pitch of A fluctuated heavily between 400 Hz and 460 Hz.

I am writing about this here because big claims are made with these frequencies. They may or may not be true. The story is convincing and lovely but also includes some form of conspiracy  – that it was hidden and that tuning was changed to 440 to control the masses, etc. This story undermines the validity of sound healing and other energetic healing modalities until more science backs it up – even if it were true. (p.s. If you haven’t read my other sound articles then let me just say here I believe in the power of sound and all that it is – frequency, resonance, etc.)

You might also read too that solfeggio is ancient and that it was hidden I don’t believe that it was purposely hidden but like many other things when a standard or new way of doing something is adopted old habits and ways of being change. Losing some old standards or ways of being can be a good thing when its harmful and other times it is a detriment to humans. It might just be that some humans knew about it and some didn’t and now we have the internet so we all get to know stuff. So, I’m not going to go into debates or information about And, as Assof Dar Sagol says in his music theory piece, Music Theory: 432 Hz Tuning – Separating Fact From Fiction

“there is no rule or law that requires musicians to stick to the standard tuning of A=440Hz. Serious musicians should all use alternate tunings for viable reasons such as the instruments timbre and build, the musical demands and the historic background of the composition.”

This is not a comprehensive article on solfeggio scale or solfeggio frequencies since there is conflicting information and more to sort out. At the end of this brief article, I’ve included a list for further reading.
