Woman finds missing ring on carrot in garden 13 years later

A woman’s lost engagement Ring has been found on a garden carrot after 13 years.

Mary Grams from Alberta, Canada was weeding her garden in September 2004 when she believes she lost her diamond ring.

But this week, the 84-year-old’s daughter-in-law uncovered the missing jewellery as she was pulling up carrots on the family farm.

Speaking to CBS News, Colleen Daley described the bizarre jewel-encrusted vegetable as “pretty weird looking”.

“If you look at it, it grew perfectly around the carrot. I’ve never seen anything quite like that.” Evening Standard reports.

Grams is reported to have not believed her family at first, instead thinking they were joking about the long-lost ring reappearing.

However, she soon found that her engagement ring did indeed have a carrot growing through it.

Having had the diamond ring since 1951, when a year later she married her husband Norman, Grams was quick to replace the jewellery when it went missing.

“We looked high and low on our hands and knees,” she said.

“I didn’t tell [Norman], even, because I thought for sure he’d give me heck or something.”

She chose a smaller silver band with less prominent diamonds for her replacement ring.

As her husband died in 2012, Grams has said she’s glad to have the ring back: “I’m going to wear it because it still fits.”
