A Tranquil New Song From The Philistines Jr.

Peter and Tarquin Katis, the brother duo of The Philistines Jr., make their comeback after an unforeseen hiatus with a soothing cover of Interpol’s 'NYC' which was inspired by the band's current ‘Turn On The Bright Lights’ 15th Anniversary tour.   When I call this cover “soothing,” I mean it. The intro’s echo paired with the gentle vocals makes this song indescribably calming. I feel this is a tune you can play on a rainy day and not feel sad that the sun isn’t shining. Another thing I would like to point out is the use of children's vocals in the chorus (Tarquin's children, no less), which given the nature of the lyrics, adds a kind of portrayal of innocence to the song’s theme. Peter and Tarquin have certainly captured the haunting yet tranquil tones presented through a muffled bass and a quiet piano, making their rendition of 'NYC' a peaceful listen during crazy times.
‘NYC’ is the first taste of The Philistines Jr.'s forthcoming EP this autumn.
