Crystal Bats Exude Sexy Vibes In 'Killing Me' Ft. Whinnie Williams

Crystal Bats have just released their third single 'Killing Me' and it offers up some of the best summer vibes and tropical beats along with a chilled 80s music video which just gives off the exotic feeling we’re all looking for this summer.
Crystal Bats have not been known to release singles often however when they do they seem to bring forward these amazing electro-pop sounds which really capture the essence of youthful rhythm right now. This is an amazing collab for Will Jones and Will Vaughn along with Whinnie Williams who is a co-writer for Madonna.
Crystal Bats made their appearance on the music scene in 2014 with their debut 'Falling In Love' which gained much critical acclaim as well as a Louis La Roche remix which featured on the well-known Majestic Casual 2 compilation. The band has had over 1 million streams on Spotify with their debut and they followed this with a greatly awaited track 'Anyone' which sent critics raving once more.
Tom Dream, the director of the music video stated “The Bats belong in Cannes. Watching them perform to an intimate audience with Marion Cotillard and Colin Firth… the universe made sense for a moment. This had to be captured as it happened. I edited the whole trip down to 90 minutes, which will be screened at the film festival next year. This is really just a trailer for that.”
The new single 'Killing Me' is a proper summer Song and even the lyrics have that romantic, husky indie music feel that we love during the festival season. This single has the same kind of style about as would be expected of a Lana Del Rey song, stripped back and gentle but with all the lustful taunts and sexy vibes you’d expect.
The bridge begins “cos now you’re looking so LA” which I absolutely love. The way the song is written is so visual and that is something I adore when I listen to new music. From the location being LA we can already imagine that the boy she is singing about is tanned and fit and so slick and shiny with such promise that he is just like the beaches and towns of LA. Everything we want to imagine when dancing at festivals.
Lyrics go on to say “Cos it’s killing me, every time you say it’s not my fault, yeah it’s killing me, every time I feel I’m not enough”. The song captures a common thought among the youth who sing about betrayal and confusion when it comes to lust and love, with technology being involved it is often hard to know whether someone is into you or not and this statement fits that perfectly. Showing that it does literally feel like being stabbed every time you see that person or don’t receive a text from them. Summer heartbreak as we are all too familiar with.
The band is a great find and if you enjoy songs like Drake’s 'Passionfruit' and old school style songs from Lana Del Rey such as 'West Coast' and 'Video Games', you have got to check out Crystal Bats.
