The summer is full of fresh produce, especially delicious and hydrating fruits, but the season of Fall is full of great choices as well. There are lots of healthy and tasty foods that peak in the fall. Check out your local farmers market for the best options or visit your grocery store and look for these items. Here is a list of some of the best healthy fall foods for your body:

  1. It doesn’t matter what flavor of apple you like best, apples are very healthy for you! They are full of antioxidants and fiber. They are great eaten raw or baked. If you are looking to sweeten up apples, try baking a nice fall apple pie. If you want to stick to the healthy route, add some apples to your next salad.
  2. Brussels sprouts. Some people stay away from this vegetable, but if you cook them right they can be really delicious! They contain vitamin K, folate and iron. Try baking them with a little parmesan and pine nuts.
  3. Another beautiful fall fruit is the pear. Pears are also very good in salads or desserts. They contain a good source of vitamin C, copper and fiber.
  4. Cauliflowers are very versatile vegetables. You can easily trade in rice or potatoes for a cauliflower side dish. With the right seasonings, you won’t even know you are eating a vegetable! Cauliflowers contain vitamin C and compounds that may even prevent cancer.
  5. Trade in your summer squash for winter squash. They contain omega-3 fatty acids and vitamin A. Try baking squash with warming spices like cinnamon and ginger.
  6. We couldn’t have this list and forget pumpkins! Pumpkins can be added to many desserts and are rich in potassium, fiber and B vitamins.

  8. Pomegranates are slightly sour but are great for salad dressings. You can also drink the juice. They contain a ton of healthy antioxidants, vitamin C, and folate.
  9. Grapefruits are a great citrus fruit to add to salads. You can also eat a grapefruit whole or drink the juice in the mornings. The health benefits include vitamin C, lycopene, and pectin.
