Jess Fielder is a Photographer in the US who put together a very heartwarming shoot in Columbus, Mississippi titled Project: Self Love.

The photo series resonated with us at Bressante because we also believe that you don’t owe anyone your prettiness. You don’t owe your partner, your kids or your boss. We are all so much more than our outward appearance. It is so much more important for anyone to be comfortable and happy with their body and soul. The quote by Erin McKean:

“You Don’t Have to Be Pretty. You don’t owe prettiness to anyone. Not to your boyfriend/spouse/partner, not to your co-workers, especially not to random men on the street. You don’t owe it to your mother. You don’t owe it to your children. You don’t owe it to civilization in general. Prettiness is not a rent you pay for occupying a space marked female.” – Erin McKean

We really appreciated the strength of these women, young and old who were brave enough to get in front of the camera and own the words used to try to put them down. We are all so much more than how we present ourselves physically. And well done to Jess for having such a touching idea to photograph!
