Hair Extension is the most attractive, expensive Hair service that can be rendered to any woman but some women may not have interest in it for some reasons. The use of hair extensions to some is to add length or to highlight or make their hair voluminous.
There are so many hair extensions in the market by different manufacturers but your choice depends on the quality you need, your budget or your lifestyle. They can be classified into four types depending on what you need.
The different methods are listed below.
Fiber Hair Extension Method
This is an hair extension method also known as weft, it is made up of a 2 – 4 inches long which is applied to the hair in rows. It can be applied using the following techniques:

Glue – in technique
This type of technique involves the use of glue which is applied to the root of the hair before it is attached to your hair and can be removed easily using an oil solvent. Using this method is nice but can only be used for a short period of time.
This hair is suitable for people who need hair extension for a short period of time, it is also cheap to purchase and use. This type of hair extension method can result in you having scalp infections due to the glue clogging to your follicles.
Also, it can cause headache when you use thick fiber hair extension method, it has less styling options and can damage your hair if removed wrongly. In cases where you intend to use it for a longer period, you will need to reapply the glue after shower each day to keep it in place.
Braided or sew – in technique
This type of technique is suitable for those with thick, curly or coarse type of hair. In this technique the hair needs to be weaved or braided to create a base for the hair extension to be attached by sewing it to your hair with a thread and needle.
This type of technique has its own benefits such as you don’t need to apply any glue or heat to your hair when applying it , it is cheap and easy to manage as you can shampoo, straight or blow dry.
It also has its own disadvantages such as taking time when applying it to your hair, it has less styling options, it can cause headache in cases where the braid is tight and can be a breeding ground for bacteria when not washed regularly.
Tape – in technique
This is the latest type of technique as it involves the use of single or double sided polymer tape. It is suitable for those with thin or fine hair. It takes less time to attach to your hair; it is seen as the easiest, fastest and harms free technique as it does not need the use of heat tools to apply the hair extension.

It has reused options as it last between the ranges of 6 – 8 weeks which makes it durable depending on the quality of hair extension in use. Other qualities that make it last longer is not using oil products on it and brushing it regularly from the root.
It has its own disadvantages such as when using this technique you must avoid excessive sweating 24 hours after using this technique so as to stick well to your hair and you cannot use oil product on the tape.
Strand By Strand Hair Technique
It is a hair extension technique which involves the application of hair extensions with keratin bonds to some pieces of your hair using hot or cold methods.

Hot Keratin Bond
This is the application of U- tip keratin bond to your hair using hot tools, in using this method your hair is placed between the U- tip while a hot tool is used to melt the bond with your hair. This occurs at the root of your hair so as to enable free movement of your normal hair.
This technique is suitable for those with thick or coarse hair type due to its application process, it is also durable as it can last for up to six months if you don’t use oil products on it and you don’t over style it but it has its own disadvantages which are as follows:

It requires a stylist with good knowledge of application
It takes much time
The hair cannot be reused
It causes headaches for those who put it on.
Cold Keratin Bond
This type of hair extension method requires small portion of your hair passed through a bead or clamp shut tool, it does not require the use of heat tools during application. It is not suitable for those with thin hair andit can be reused and last long when applied.
It has some side effects such as it requires a good knowledge of application on the side of the stylist

It requires the use of special tools for easy application

Clip – in Hair Extension Technique
This type of technique is the use of sensitive clips to hold fiber hair extensions to the hair, it is good for those who want to wear a short term hair extension.

This type of extension method also known as halo hair is good for those who want to use hair extension for an occasion or event which will be removed before going to bed.
It does not need any technical know how to apply to your hair, can be used any time you wish but not suitable for those with thin hair and can only last for a short period of time.
Micro Link Skin Fiber
It is a special type of hair extension method where your hair is passed through a silicone lined micro link skin fiber and clamped or sealed with a closing tool. It is the easiest and fastest application method; it does not require heat, glue or tape during application.
This application is not suitable for those with fine or thin hair, it requires the use of special tools and causes discomfort few days after application. You need to avoid oil hair products for it to last long.
