13 Reasons Why I Would Never Go On A Dating Site

Are you looking for your love on a dating site?

Dating sites are gaining fame by the day with millions of people turning to them every other day to look for a Partner. This can be attributed to failure in relationships and marriages, the result of which is a generation that is emotionally messed up. A lot has been said about online dating and while in the past it was mostly used by teenagers, this has changed. Nowadays you will find even elderly people looking for love online. This has also resulted in an increase in the dating sites, both genuine ones and scams.

There are a good number of people who can defend online dating because it has worked for them. However, there is another lot who have had a bitter experience in one way or another. In some cases it has even led to loss of lives and property.

There are many reasons which nullify an online dating site, some of which are discussed below.

1. Fake profiles

The fact is, when you are looking for a partner in dating sites you cannot ascertain who is real and who is not. In fact, most people have dated people who do not exist. There are people who create profiles in dating sites just for the fun of it. They make up names, addresses, and even post photos which do not belong to them. You end up investing your time and emotions just to realize later that your new found love was not real.

2. Fake sites

Just like the profiles, it is also not possible to know which online dating sites are real and which ones are scams. This makes the whole process a gamble that might end up costing you your life.

3. The risk of being conned

There are many people out there who are involved in dubious activities and are always looking for their new preys. Such people find online dating sites to be very lucrative in the sense that they can easily get away. Dating sites always have a disclaimer that distances the management from any such claims and it is up to the user to be vigilant. This can be tricky because nothing really sets the genuine people and cons apart.

4. Hidden personality

It is not possible to ascertain a person’s true identity if you only meet online. They can create a personality and make you believe they are the best while in reality they are the exact opposite. This reality might dawn much later when the time has already been wasted. Meeting a partner physically is advisable because you can make your judgment at the first meet up and decide whether you will pursue further or end it without wasting more of your precious time.

5. Online relationships are more prone to cheating

When dating someone online, it is not possible to know if you are the only person they are dating. It is possible to chat with numerous people at the same time and this means that you might just be one of the many. Again, when dating someone physically, it is possible to read in between the lines and ascertain whether they are cheating on you, while this is not possible in online dating.

6. Relationships do not last

Getting a partner online is much easier compared to the traditional method where you have to meet up, organize dates some of which do not materialize and fall out once in a while. These challenges are important because they make you aware of the other person’s character and decide whether you are compatible with them or not. Online dating on the other hand does not have this privilege.

7. Over exposure

An online relationship can last long enough to make you comfortable to share your personal information such as family background and address. There is this deception that because you have been dating someone for long then they are genuine. Truth however is, you do not know that person and they could turn out even to be criminals.

8. Reduces your level of commitment

You might be a very committed person naturally but think your can have some fun with online dating. What starts as just some little fun of having numerous partners online will grow into a habit and before you realize you are unable to commit to one partner.

9. Poor communication

The main avenue of communication in online relationships is chatting since most people do not even give out their real phone numbers. These relationships do not offer the opportunity to discuss issues face to face. When your partner is avoiding you, they might just tell you they are busy and unable to talk to you and you will just have to believe them because you do not have a way of ascertaining whether they are telling the truth.

10. There is no real intimacy

When dating someone online, there is a missing connection between the two of you, which can only be attained when you meet the person physically. This is what most people refer to as chemistry and it is what sparks the intimacy which eventually leads to sex. Research shows that people who date online have a higher chance of having sex with the person when they meet for the first time, but later on regret it because they realize there is no chemistry between them.

11. Encourages anti social behavior

When you get used to dating online, it is very easy to fall for the deception that you can replace your physical friends with online ones. The fact is, online relationships are less demanding but eventually they create an Anti Social individual.

12. You cannot ascertain the true relationship status of your partner

Most people who date online say that at one point they have dated a married person, just to realize that when they are planning a physical hook up. When you meet people online, you will just believe what they tell and truth is you do not have a way of knowing what is true and what is not.

13. Rarely ends in marriage

Research has shown that online relationships rarely lead to marriage. Traditionally, the purpose of dating was so that you can know your partner better and eventually get married. Online dating seems to have revolutionized this purpose and for that reason, people are getting married at very advanced stages in life.
