How to Achieve the ‘No Makeup’ Makeup Look

How to Achieve the ‘No Makeup’ Makeup Look

Whether you’re heading to a party or a formal dinner, finding a stunning outfit and doing a full-glam makeup look is fun every so often. It’s nice to go ‘all out’ and dress up for a special occasion.

However, most of the time, full glam isn’t necessary. There are some days when you will want to give your skin a breather and you’d rather relax without any makeup on. Plus, a full face of glamorous makeup isn’t always appropriate for the workplace.

Even if you’re not getting dolled up for a special occasion, you can still enjoy wearing makeup. You can create a natural makeup look that gives you a confidence boost and makes you feel your best.

Also known as a ‘no makeup’ makeup look, natural makeup is appropriate for any time or place. You can rock the ‘no makeup’ makeup look when you’re heading out for a shopping day, relaxing with your friends, or even going to the gym. The idea is that you get some coverage on your face without it being noticeable to others that you’re wearing any makeup.

Achieving the ‘no makeup’ makeup look is relatively easy and it takes minimal effort. It’s perfect for your lazy days or the days when you have very little time to get ready. You can use minimal products to cover blemishes and give your skin a fresh glow.

If you’re wondering how to get the perfect ‘no makeup’ makeup look, follow the steps below.

  1. Prepare Your Skin

The first step in any makeup routine is preparing the skin. Putting makeup on an unprepared base could cause your foundation to look cakey or your contour to clump up in the wrong places.

To create a strong base, you need to use some high-quality skin care products. Find creams and lotions that moisturize your skin and reduce the severity of any dry patches. You might need to try a few different products to find which ones are the best for your skin type.

We recommend using a blurring primer that will smooth out your pores and create an even base on which you can apply your makeup. You can choose from either a moisturizing or mattifying primer. The former is better if your skin is naturally dry and the latter is great if you have naturally oily skin.

  1. Choose a Light Foundation

You might hear some people saying that you should skip the foundation when you’re trying to achieve a natural makeup look. While you could avoid wearing foundation if you wish to, some of you might still want a little bit of coverage across your skin.

When you’re going for a natural makeup look, choose a light coverage foundation that provides a small layer of coverage without saturating your skin. You can cover blemishes or redness to achieve a smooth, natural appearance while still maintaining the ‘no makeup’ makeup look.

If you want any extra coverage, you can apply concealer around the target areas, like under your eyes or along your T-zone.

  1. Add Some Color and Sparkle

Once you’ve applied some light coverage foundation (or none at all), the next step is to add some color to your face. It’s important not to go to overboard with your products as you want your makeup to look natural.

Add a small amount of contour to your cheeks to accentuate your cheek bones and shape your face. Follow up with a small dab of blush and some highlighter to add color and sparkle to your face.

Try and avoid the icy-toned products as these can look harsh on your face and will reduce the natural appearance of your makeup look. Use a warm-toned highlighter instead or mix a couple of different highlighters together to create a more natural-toned option.

  1. Keep Your Eye Makeup Simple

To achieve a ‘no makeup’ makeup look, it’s important to keep your eyes relatively bare. You can add some mascara or skin-toned eye shadow to enhance the natural color of your eyes. Use some eyelash curlers to create a natural curl in your eyelashes.

You can fill in your eyebrows with some brow gel if you want to make them appear fuller and you may want to add some brown eyeliner to your waterline to enhance your eye shape. Try not to use any bright-colored shadows or false eye lashes as this definitely won’t look natural!
