We don’t need a formal definition of Happiness, we all feel it and we all feel how contagious it can be, too! While we’re going about our usual routine of school runs, running late for work and last nights dinner for lunch – we can sometimes get stuck in a bit of a rut. Not altogether a bad thing, but we can certainly all do with a bit more happiness in our lives! Here are four simple things you can do to be Happier.
A Bit of Gratitude Goes a Long Way
Practicing gratitude is one thing that we could all do more of. Start by taking two minutes at the end of your day to write one thing that you’re thankful for. Once you sit and think of what you’re actually thankful for you’ll start to feel the benefits almost instantly. Even if you’ve had the longest Monday of your life and everything went wrong from start to finish, simply be thankful that you’re finally relaxing in your PJs! It doesn’t have to be a fantastic, eventful thing – just something that made you happy that day.
Treat Yourself as a Friend
Most of us, either admittedly or not, will have those negative thoughts that pop up every now and again. Things we should have done, things we shouldn’t have done, the list can sometimes feel endless! If we all started to Treat ourselves as we would treat a friend, we wouldn’t be half as hard on ourselves! We’d be our own personal cheerleader, and there’s nothing wrong with that! It’s one sure way of leading a happier lifestyle.
Get Up and Get Going!
This may not be what you want to hear, but it’s what has to be said! Exercise has been proven to release endorphins that make us a whole lot happier (maybe sometimes just relieved that we got it done!). If you’re not a fan of the gym, start off with a simple at-home workout. You’ll be oh so proud of yourself and deserve a pat on the back. Plus, we have fabulous workout gear to get you started.
Treat Yourself and Others
You don’t have to splash the cash in order to be happy – but treating yourself and others around you can instantly pump up your mood. Surprise your friend with their favourite coffee, or your mam with flowers, just because. It’s a selfless thing to do and will instantly increase your happiness, as well as theirs!
