I love Hot Cloth cleansers, in fact the Liz Earle Hot Cloth Cleanser is quite possibly my holy grail and all time favourite cleanser. I also really like the Superdrug Vitamin E skincare range, it’s cheap and cheerful delivering results without breaking the bank. Both the Vitamin E Eye Cream and the Vitamin E Hydrating Mist are products that I’ve completely used up so when I spotted the Hot Cloth Cleanser I decided I just had to try it, here’s my verdict.

The packaging is pretty basic for the Vitamin E range but in honesty that’s fine with me as I’d much rather the product inside be good. It’s not often I see a cleanser inside a squeezy tube but I actually like this as it means that I can cut it open and get all of the product out when I’m closing to use it up. The cleanser and a muslin cloth are all housed inside a box which does feel more luxurious than a simple bottle. One thing I love about this range is how it’s so affordable – this costs £4.99 for 200ml of product.

Superdrug describe this product as the following:
“Superdrug Vitamin E Hot Cloth Cleanser is suitable for removing dirt and makeup whilst providing gentle exfoliation. Easy to use tube and reusable muslin cloth. Dermatologically approved. Suitable for vegetarians and vegans. Rich in natural Vitamin E.”

One thing that is a nice addition is how Superdrug’s Vitamin E range is cruelty free so if you are a vegetarian or vegan then you can comfortably use this product. It doesn’t claim to be paraben free however, I can’t spot any parabens in the ingredient list. Having said that, unfortunately alcohol and fragrance are present though my skin hasn’t experience any irritation even around the eye area.

Aqua, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Theobroma Cacao (Cocoa) Seed Butter, Cetearyl Alcohol, Glycerin, Polysorbate 60, Sorbitan Stearate, Cetyl Alcohol, Propylene Glycol, Prunus Amygdalus Dulcis Oil, Parfum, Tocopheryl Acetate, Tocopherol (Vitamin E), Panthenol, Alcohol Denat., PEG-35 Castor Oil, Polysorbate 20, Aesculus Hippocastanum (Horse Chestnut) Seed Extract, Retinyl Palmitate (Vitamin A), Inositol, Calcium Pantothenate (Vitamin B), Linoleic Acid (Vitamin F), Biotin (Vitamin H), Potassium Hydroxide, Sodium Benzoate, 2-Bromo-2-Nitropropane-1,3-Diol, Citric Acid, Coumarin, Linalool, Buthylphenyl Methylpropional, Alpha-Isomethyl Ionone, Disodium EDTA.

Though I don’t want to promote the use of fragrance in products this does smell nice with a clean, lotion smell. The texture does feel quite rich, it’s a very thick cream, even thicker than the Liz Earle Hot Cloth Cleanser however, once you massage it into the skin and then use warm water it feels luxurious.

The formula is gentle on my skin and very effective at removing makeup without leaving my skin feeling stripped, it manages to remove some of my heavier makeup products such as full coverage foundation, mascara and eyebrow pomade though I do need to make sure I use enough as it doesn’t spread as easily due to the texture.

Overall, I do like this, it’s a pleasant cleanser and is so much better than the budget would suggest. I think if you have wanted to try the Liz Earle for a while but can’t or don’t want to spend the £14.00 then you should definitely check this out. Also if you are a hot cloth cleanser lover like myself, give it a whirl, you may be pleasantly surprised!
