May Favourites 2018

What a month May has been, there’s been a hell of a lot of ups and downs this month and it’s actually been very intense for me. It’s also been strange in the fact that at times it’s dragged but then at the same time it’s flown. I have a few things that have made this month much more pleasant for me and I have a good feeling about June so fingers crossed that one is better!

As usual I’m going to start with the beauty favourites, I’ve had a few new discoveries as well as the return of an old favourite. My skin altely has changed into a bit of an oil;y mess, I have combination skin but it’s also leaned towards the drier side yet lately it’s so oily that I’ve had a ton of breakouts. I’ve turned back to La Roche Posay the last couple of months and this month the La Roche Posay Serozinc has been a godsend for mattifying my skin and helping to keep those pesky spots at bay.

Another skincare product I tried this month was the Vichy Mineral 89 Booster, I only has a sample of this but my God has it impressed me. I’ve heard a lot about plumping products but never used anything that has visibly plumped and lifted the skin but this actually managed to do it, I tried it and my skin instantly felt so fresh and hydrated and my face generally looked plumper and healthier, I’m seriously impressed.

Perhaps a few unsurprising favourites are the Jeanne Arthes Amore Mio Forever Perfume and The Body Shop Skin Defence Essence, I reviewed both products near the start of the month and they both impressed me so much that I used them exclusively thorughout the entirety of May. The fragrance is a light, fruity, citrus scent, not my usual but the Amalfi Lemon is so prevalent and reminds me of summer. The essence is great since the weather has been so warm as it has SPF 50 so protects my skin from UVA and UVB rays which is exactly what I need. My other two favourites include the Real Techniques Ultimate Eye Set which has blown me away with the fluffy brushes that make my eye makeup look so much better. I’ll be reviewing the Rimmel London Go Wilderness Polish later in the week but this is a lovely lilac shade that lasts on the nails.

Onto my lifestyle favourites and I’ve been trying to exercise more. My routien is pretty intense at the moment involving a workout six days a week and incorporating weights as well as cardio but I’m feeling much stronger for it (and very sore.) My boyfriend bought me these Opti Neoprene Dumbbells from Argos and they’ve really helped. These are only 3KG as my arms are puny and flabby but I can lift them comfortably and use them in different muscular endurance workouts and they definitely are helping me tone up. Not bad for £14.00!

I’ve also been enjoying something slightly less healthy and that’s Banana Chips which I’ve been taking as part of my work lunch to snack on. The ones from Asda sadly do contain a lot of sugar and fat so they’re not the healthiest but I’m making small changes that I can stick to and they’re much better than cake and a caramel latte and they taste so good plus they fill me so I don’t binge on biscuits mid afternoon.

Finally is a game, I’m a gamer and I’ve been a fan of RPG games for a while, Divinity Original Sin is made by an independent developer so it’s not a gaming powerhouse like EA of Ubisoft, I’m playing this co-op with my boyfriend as a way for us to spend more time together and we are both loving it. If anyone’s interested it’s kind of like the Fable series, I am a mystical mage pummeling monsters with spells so you know…I’m a nerd!

That’s it from me this month, I hope you all had a lovely May and have an even better June. As always, if you enjoyed this post please hit the like button and let me know in the comments what you have been enjoying this month – feel free to link me to your posts!
