Urban Decay Grindhouse Double Barrel Sharpener Review

Okay so how exciting is a pencil sharpener? Really? Really?! But at the same time they’re undeniably useful. I’ve had to throw away eyeliners that have dried up since they haven’t been sharpened, and once I got my hands on my first NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil I also realised how difficult jumbo pencils are to sharpen. I’d read good things about the Urban Decay Grindhouse Sharpener and thought it a worthy investment – and I was right…

The Grindhouse sharpener is a purple box sharpener that arrives in a matching purple box. It’s very small and compact in design plus it has a detachable lid which makes it incredibly convenient and perfect for travel. This retails for £8.50 which is expensive for a sharpener but is one of Urban Decay’s most affordable products.

On Feel Unique, the Urban Decay Grindhouse Sharpener is described as the following:
This multitasker includes two sharpeners: a slim one for Urban Decay’s 24/7 Glide-On Eye and Lip Pencils and a large one for their 24/7 Concealer Pencils and Super-Saturated High Gloss Lip Colour pencils.

Each blade is made of durable steel infused with 1% carbon to prevent rust. Urban Decay Grindhouse Double Barrel Sharpener also works with most other brands’ big and small pencils (if you must) and includes a plastic pick for scraping and dislodging shavings to keep the blades free of gunk.”

I have to be honest, I agree with all of the product claims, this works for slim and jumbo liners – it’s a simple contraption but works so, so well. Before I bought this, I did have a cheap double barrel sharpener but I was noticing that my liners wouldn’t sharpen properly, the product would snap all the way down inside the wooden casing, the product would splinter and my sharpeners would eventually break.

I’ve been using this for months and months now so this review is overview but I have to say this is fantastic. It does everything I need it to, it’s easy to clean, it’s not broken any of my eyeliners or jumbo pencils and the sharpeners is still as strong as ever. It truly is a fab products.

Overall, I really like this, there’s not a lot to say but this is worth the money, it’s easily the best sharpener I’ve tried and it’s saved me money on replacing eyeliners when I can preserve the ones I have. If you are still on the hunt for a decent sharpener then give this a chance – you won’t be disappointed.

The Urban Decay Grindhouse Sharpener is available from Feel Unique for £8.50.
