I didn’t use to be a fan of hand cream until I tried the Soap and Glory Hand Dream which opened my eyes up to the wonderful world of soft, moisturised hands. This winter has been particularly harsh on my skin, the intense cold outside and the central heating inside has caused my skin to dry out and my hands have been incredibly sore so I’ve been reaching for hand cream much more than usual. I haven’t actually tried much by Crabtree & Evelyn but I was given this a while ago by an old course-mate so I’ve been giving this a go.
I have a 25ml so the packaging is quite small and easy to store, the lid thankfully is a twist off one which means this isn’t going to spray all over your bag which is nice! The packaging reminds me of herbs and an apothecary which I think encapsulates Crabtree & Evelyn as a brand. Dependent on what size you get affects that cost so this 25g is available for £4.49 from Candles Direct whilst the 100ml is £18.00 from the Crabtree & Evelyn website so I’d definitely say this is mid-range.
This hand cream is described by Crabtree & Evelyn as the following:
“Slick hands with this nourishing treat and keep skin well fed, and silky soft. The richly nourishing Shea Butter and Ceramide formula is enhanced with the anti-oxidant goodness of Moroccan Argan Oil to nurture and protect, lightly sealing skin with moisture. Warm Mediterranean notes of Orange, juicy Pomegranate and Sweet Fig mingled with the heat of Ginger and Black Pepper leave skin enticingly scented. The perfect partner to team with our Pomegranate & Argan Oil Hand Wash for a cleanse and condition regime.
Usage Suggestion: For instant renewal, massage a pea-sized amount into hands and nails as required.
Fragrance: Warm Mediterranean fruit notes of orange, juicy pomegranate and sweet fig mingle with the heat of ginger and black pepper spice.”
Starting with the scent this is hard to describe but really nice. It’s a fruity smell but then the ginger and spices add a warmth to it that takes it to quite a sharp yet welcoming scent that I really like despite not usually being a fan of pomegranates! Don’t be fooled into thinking this is a sweet scent it’s definitely quite zesty and tart.
The texture is lighter than you might expect which is quite nice, it’s not as heavy duty or as silicone feeling as some hand creams instead it has a texture that’s slightly richer than a lotion but not super heavy duty, it does leave your hands heavily moisturised for a minute or two before sinking in quite quickly. It’s not super runny so you may need more than a pea sized amount to make it spread easier.
I can really get on board with the formula, it doesn’t leave the hands with any residue and there’s no greasy film left on the hands for hours, instead it sinks in providing instantly soft and hydrating hands which I love! My hands feel much less sore after using this and the dry skin has been reduced as well! I think the argan oil adds that extra hydrating property plus this can be used on the nails too.
Overall, I really like this. It’s not quite as luxurious as one by L’Occitane but it’s very similar at a cheaper price point, I think this is very underrated and I was pleasantly surprised at how pleasant this is to use and how effective it is! I would recommend this and I’d definitely try different scents from the range as well, definitely one worth adding to your wishlist!
The Crabtree & Evelyn Pomegranate Hand Therapy is available from Crabtree & Evelyn for £18.00 for 100ml or for £4.49 from Candles Direct for the 25 g I have.
I hope that you enjoyed this post and if you did please hit the like button, let me know in the comments if you have tried this and what hand creams you enjoy using, I’d love to hear any recommendations! My other two that I love are the discontinued Soap and Glory Hand Dream plus the L’Occitane Amande which is divine.
