I’ve seen so many people talk about Foiled Eyeshadows and as someone who likes intense eyeshadow the concept really appealed to me. I have been tempted by the Makeup Geek Foiled Eyeshadows but I also decided to give the Makeup Revolution Awesome Metals a try first. This product does seem to be discontinued but you can find this online on stores like Ebay and Amazon.
Starting with the packaging I personally find it a bit rubbish. Everything is housed in flimsy cardboard packaging so if you got this wet you would be a bit screwed which in my opinion is a bit crap. The eyeshadow itself comes in a plain plastic pot with the liquid primer houses in a plain tube, it does feel quite cheap and like there’s little thought that’s gone into it. These weren’t the cheapest of Makeup Revolution products at £5.00 each so I’d expect a little better.
I can’t actually find a product description since this is discontinued but in a nutshell with this product you get a small metal tray for mixing, a silver eyeshadow and the liquid primer. The instructions say to use a drop of the primer as a mixing medium then to mix the eyeshadow with that but I got very little product when doing that so I tried that and with more to see if I could make a difference.

The shade does appear intense-ish my issue was that this struggled to set and I couldn’t get it to go opaque at all, I tried using primer and then trying without primer, I tried with my fingers and with a brush but I just couldn’t get this to look nice, instead it looks like a translucent and creased mess. In addition, this was a pain to mix, a pain to apply and for results that were nowhere near what I was expecting. This also emphasised my eye texture massively.

I’m actually really disappointed because I’ve had much cheaper eyeshadows perform so much better so I just couldn’t see a benefit to this at all, I have tried this lots of ways but looking online other people’s results are similar to mine, very sheer and very patchy.
Overall, I’m just not impressed, in fact I really like this and it’s definitely a disappointing product. I wouldn’t recommend this at all and I definitely wouldn’t repurchase, I’m not writing off foiled eyeshadows but this range just under-performs so I’m not surprised it’s been discontinued.
I hope that you enjoyed this post and if you did please hit the like button, let me know in the comments if you have tried this plus if you have any great foiled eyeshadows – are the Makeup Geek ones worth it? I’d love to know!
