Modern Femme Fatale LOTD

Tags: love liner skin

The concept of a femme fatale is something that really intrigues me. Sex appeal aside, for me femme fatale makeup is powerful, modern and strong revealing how strong a woman really is. Autumn makeup I often find is powerful, strong lips, sharp Liner and dewy skin all is a beautiful combination and one I really wanted to showcase. Here’s a look inspired by the concept.

Eyes

Superdrug Vitamin E Eye Cream
I always start my eye makeup by using a small amount of eyecream, this hydrates my eyes, adds radiance and if it’s in a morning ensures that any sleep is fully out of my eyes.
MUA Pro Prime Eyeshadow Primer
This budget friendly primer always increases the longevity of my eyeshadow and helps to intensify shadows as well. I like the doefoot applicator which makes this easy to apply.
Urban Decay Alice Through the Looking Glass Palette
I only used the one shade from this palette and that is the shade Mirror I applied this all over the lid to form the base of my eye makeup.
Urban Decay Naked Palette
To add dimension and a smokey effect I used two shades from this palette. I used Creep in the outer V and crease and then blended this out. Finally I added a smidgen of Virgin pressed into the center of my lid and inner corners to highlight.
Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer in Fair
I always used this under my eyes, as it hides my dark circles and doesn’t crease on my skin. I dot this on then use a tiny blending concealer brush to work this up to my lower lashes, then I pat it in with my ring finger. I also used this to define my winged liner and clean up any smudges later.
Seventeen High Drama Liquid Eyeliner
This budget friendly liquid liner is seriously good and that is coming from someone who didn’t used to be a fan of liquid liner. I really struggled with winged liner at the best of times but I can actually work with this one. It doesn’t drip into my lashes, it’s nice and black and it stays in place too.
Urban Decay 24/7 Glide on Eye Pencil in Perversion
For a look like this, I think black liner is needed on the waterline just to tie it together and prevent it from looking top heavy. I used this liner on my tightline and waterline. This is my favourite black liner as it’s super dark, matte and it stays in place for hours!
L’oreal Telescopic Mascara
My holy grail mascara, this lengthens and volumises the lashes without making them clumpy. I love the plastic wand that works really well to hook into my lashes, and I find that this doesn’t smudge everywhere.
Anastasia Dipbrow Pomade
I do like this however, it is quite heavy duty especially when it starts to dry out like mine has. I only use a small amount of this to prevent it from being too OTT but it does darken my brows dramatically. I use this to fill in and shape and I like how it stays in place all day and doesn’t turn my brows crispy.
Sleek Brow Kit in Dark
I’ve completely used up the pigmented wax in this however, I’m currently using the powder over the top of my ABH Pomade to prevent my brows looking too shiny and to soften them a little bit. I do quite like this powder for the brows and I love how it isn’t warm toned.

Face

L’oreal Lumi Magique Primer
This is a recent discovery, I won’t say too much as I’m reviewing this on Frioday however, I love this. One pump is enough for the entire face and this gives a glorious dewy glow to the skin with that highly sought after lit from within look. Bonus points for the fact it smells lovely too.
L’oreal True Match Foundation in 1N
My favourite high street foundation I love the medium coverage and dewy finish of this foundation, the only downside to this is that it doesn’t have a very long wear time. I apply this with a damp Real Techniques sponge which stops this from looking cakey or wiping away since it’s quite a thin consistency.
Astor Deluxe Bronzer in 002 Safari Fever
I’ve very nearly used up this bronzer and I really do like this, the colour is neither too warm nor too cool for my skin tone and the matte finish of this makes it great for contouring and sculpting. I simply use this ins the hollows of my cheeks to define my face and it works wonders.
No7 Vital Brights Blusher in Blossoming Pink
I really love this cream blusher so it’s no surprise I’ve hit pan on this. This fresh pinky coral shade is reminiscent of that “cheeks pinched from the cold look. I love the soft texture of this and despite being shimmer free on my cheeks it adds a healthy look that makes my skin look really fresh.
MUA Undress Your Skin Highlighter in Pink Shimmer
Icy highlighters are my favourite and I love this icy pink powder. It’s nicely pigmented but you can go subtle or intense with this. For this look I built it up to be fairly intense and I love it. This does have shimmer in it but it’s not OTT and doesn’t look like chunky glitter. I really love this and it’s a steal at only £4.00.
No7 Creme Touch Powder
I swore off powder for a while and I still shudder at that thought of Rimmel Stay Matte and Max Factor Creme Puff both of which made my skin look uber cakey. This No7 Powder has really surprised me though. I was given it by an old friend and it works to set my makeup without looking cakey. I also think this is a really soft and buttery powder unlike the usual very dusty very dry powders.

Lips

Nyx Soft Matte Lip Cream in Copenhagen
This is darker than it has translated on photo but this is a lovely deep berry shade which is perfect for this time of year and definitely a power lip. This has a matte finish but unlike a lot of liquid lipsticks doesn’t completely suck the life out of your lips.

So there we have it, congratulations if you made it to the end of this post and if you enjoyed it please hit the like button. Let me know in the comments if you like this look and if you use any of these products.
