Illamasqua Gel Colour in Fluster Review

It’s no secret that I love Illamasqua as a brand, my obsession started with their lipsticks and quickly expanded into nails, face and eye products. One thing that particularly intrigued me was their Gel Sculpt and Colour range and the Shade that drew me in was Fluster, a beautiful poppy pink shade. Here’s my thoughts.

With three shades in the range the gel range aims to provide an easy application with a juicy finish that doesn’t budge. There are three shades in the range Silhouette (a contour), Fluster (pictured above) and Charm (an orange shade). These are priced at £22.00 which I would describe as high end.

Illamasqua describe this product as the following:
Fluster is a gel based, sheer cheek tint that glides on smoothly and can be easily blended across cheekbones for an instant flush of colour to your complexion.

Starting with the shade and it’s a vibrant pink that I absolutely love. The formula feels quite smooth and cooling on the cheeks, this is matte so it really gives the impression of a natural flush. My only bug bear is that despite the gel texture these don’t blend out as well as people seem to say, I struggled to blend this without it going patchy and although it doesn’t move my foundation it is very pigmented so it can be difficult to work with, I would therefore recommend using this under your foundation and building it up as needed.

As you can see when it’s blended it does go a little patchy which I struggled with, I think that if the formula was a little bit creamier then this would be absolutely perfect but as it is it definitely requires some practice. On the plus side though this does leave behind a fresh, juicy looking stain that is super pretty and very longwearing. I do think that this would be a great option in summer and I also think that oily skinned girls would benefit from this as it doesn’t budge once it’s on so it won’t slip away throughout the day.

I’m yet to try this on the lips but some people have used it as a lip tint so I may try it that way and see how it works for me. Overall, this isn’t bad I think that the formula needs a couple of tweaks but the shade and concept is impressive. I would recommend this to those who like intense blushers or don’t mind blending a lot, I personally probably wouldn’t repurchase though because although it’s nice it does require a lot of effort to make it work.

The Illamasqua Gel Colour in Fluster is available here for £22.00 (currently on offer at £6.60 as I write this on Saturday 21st January.)
