The most controversial jewellery in the world?

I was browsing the internet (as you do) about Jewellery and trying to think of something for this week’s blog, when I came upon this Article and video regarding some rather “different” jewelry, Controversial jewelry some might say. Controversial because it seems to hook into your veins and creates electricity, not everyone’s cup-of-tea, but horses for different courses and all that. Article and video below;

This got me thinking of what other Controversial Jewellery is out there. But, where to start and what is or isn’t controversial, after all it is only a matter of opinion here. So this is my take on the whole ‘controversial jewellery’ thing and you can add your own ideas in the comments below.

So starting with the above as a guide and then completely letting that dissolve away…

The literal “Jewel in the crown”, is it a gift from India to Britain, or did the Empire steal it? Of course, those who were around at the time of Britain’s colonial rule, are past their sell by dates, so we won’t really know the full truth. But is it time Lizzie and the rest of the Windsor’s re-gifted it?

Ok so this next one is a bit… well, Judge for yourself.

https://i-d.vice.com/en_us/article/someone-made-jewelry-to-accentuate-the-controversial-thigh-gap some people will like it and can see a gap in the market (no pun intended) for this. But, I have this feeling it won’t catch on too much, camel toe pendant anyone?

As we go further into this blog, I feel I may need to gross you out somewhat. So to get the grossing out started, here is a little article for those of you who like the more freaky side of jewelry!

Yeah, weird right?

Damien Hirst, that might be a tad too much!

Actually, after reading the article, I kinda like this one. http://www.treehugger.com/sustainable-fashion/lady-locks-roadkill-animal-jewelry.html , Ethical, sustainable and a decent free source of material.

And finally…

Of course, one of the more controversial stories about jewelry over the past year, has been about this; https://euobserver.com/migration/131642 which of course has been likened to the Nazi parties treatment of the Jews in the second world war. Shame on you Danish Government!
