3. Go for a good leather jacket. It's best with this trend to invest in the best...as in, real leather to ensure the authentic look is mastered. These beauties have been spotted on models around the globe - but they never really go out of style, do they? You could always personalise it; it's easy enough with a glue gun to add your own embellishments - studs, metal trinkets and badges go a long way to making an easy, unique look. This gorgeously edgy distressed-look leather jacket made from 100% lambskin is an amazin, high-quality oozing piece, with a masculine and feminine vibe. Handmade in the USA, it definitely has an Americana-gone-dark vibe, reminding me of True Blood.

The more budget-oriented choice looks just as good, too. This black leather jacket is with studded arm patches and front zipper pockets, and the look is as authentic as ever, providing moody glamour to any outfit. The curiously named brand, Shitsville Clothing, are Italian-based, wanting to challenge your idea of "normal" Italian fashion. All the pieces are of course, crafted in Italy.

4. Cute ankle boots are an effective shoe staple. Not everyone can carry them off effectively (they make me look weird, with too-big feet) but there are many choices out there to choose from. Practical and season-proof, you can wear these all year round with anything you like. If you're quite petite as well, and don't wish to appear stumpy then it's best to go with a pair that cut off right at the ankle, not too high up the leg.
The style below is a higher top version for ladies with longer legs, and they come in too very attractive metallic colours - dark red (wine) and teal (petrol). Crafted with patent and calf leather, they are very distinctive and bang on trend, with the moody metallic colours, rubber stack platforms and pointed toe (these help to elongate the legs). Again, made in Italy by a Norwegian designer called Monica Stalvang, who aims to create footwear for the modern urban woman who is still looking for feminine style, and not willing to sacrifice on quality or comfort.

5. Remember to belt up. In these fast-paced days, some people have forgotten about belts. However, they are making a comeback for spring/summer '15, and designers turn to more tailored shapes in order to accentuate different aspects of the body. This is especially important if you want to enhance your silhouette to its maximum potential and create a structured look, even with layers. Belts smarten up outfits and even pull some together completely, so don't forget. Skinny belts are especially handy.
The first belt is quite unique - it's made of vegetable-dyed leather, from the London-based design house Neanga. A very bold, black look is complemented by chevron detailing, and part of the belt is actually black pony hair. Lovely! I'm sure this would complete most outfits. Perhaps you could pair it with a leopard print skirt and pale pink shirt for an effective look.

Wide belts are very effective in pulling together voluminous fabric in a chic, gathered-loosely way that works with some garments. It's nudging the metallic trend with the stretchy black/silver fabric, and slender clasp, and is brought to us from the brand Anthracite, a darkly sophisticated affair.

6. Ballet flats should be every woman's go-to shoe. Especially for daytime, and they look to be with us for years to come; hopefully forever. They are comfortable, easy to slip on and off, and you won't ruin your feet in the process. Not to mention there are some amazingly cute styles out there, so you're almost certain to find one for every outfit (if you want to go that far).
This very cute turquoise/aqua pair of ballerina flats look like an incredibly easy style update to pick out - sure to brighten up any outfit, the Italian suede leather is supple and enticing-looking. I especially like the look of the gold zip edging and fancy logo.

Likewise, this pretty pair are a nude fans dream, and handmade to boot. From the brand Ivlisa, they are made of leather (mostly calf leather) and you can just imagine the buttery softness you would be sinking your teeth into if you owned these. Your feet would literally be writing you thank-you cards, in order to show their gratitude at not being pressed and prodded out of shape. They also have natural nacre shell as a modern but rustic take on embellishment for the toe.

7. Throw on a light and pretty scarf. This easily and effortlessly adds a flirty tinge to an outfit. Drape it however which way you feel comfortable, especially if you can't be bothered to master the seemingly endless knots that drift in and out of style. It could be the perfect finishing touch to lift any ensemble.
This first choice, although quite pricey, is a work of modern art, although it has its vintage references. Florals are bang on trend, and this small flower printed scarf by Lisan Ly is a delicate and not-too-bold way to covet the look. 8. Dress up your swimming costumes for a personalised look. Quite easy to do, but achieves maximum glamourous effect. This is especially useful if you're not quite ready to be bikini-fied. Just draw attention elsewhere!
The first look is an easy starter, and dark colours and always more flattering when exposing more skin. It's from one of my favourites, Love Martini, featuring a great big black panther baring its teeth on the front. An edgy touch, and eye-catching, too. The scoop neckline is handy in adding a not-too-covered-up kind of way, and stretchy material adds to the practicality and wearability factors.

Another, even cooler option is this reversible bathing suit, for a more lavish price. Pale blue with red poppies on one side, and pale/dark blue snowy trees print on the other side. An instantly stylish and gorgeous choice, and one that's instantly changeable too! Worth the price tag, in my opinion.

9. Try a poncho. They may not be to everyone's taste, but you might be surprised at the eye-catching and attractive styles that designers are coming up with. There's something for everyone, from minimalist and gauzy designs to items layered with fringing, another up-and-coming trend for 2015. They're spotted everywhere, and fast becoming a hit to celebrities and us normal folk alike.
