Missha x LINE FRIENDS Matte Lipstick Swatch and Review

“Disclosure: I bought this product with my own money. I am neither affiliated with this company nor am I being paid to write this post. My opinions are honest and my own.” Complete disclosure here

Hello, lovelies~ I’m sure most of you are familiar with the chatting app called LINE. You know, the fun app where it lets you use stickers in place of ordinary emoticons or emojis? They even have their own characters called Brown, Cony and Sally. There are others, but I only remember those three. Well, Missha collaborated with LINE FRIENDS to create one of (possibly) the cutest makeup LINE (pun intended) to come out in 2016.

I couldn’t resist the packaging, so I placed an order from a few online shops here in Indonesia and got a few items. I managed to purchase a BB cushion, a Matte Lipstick, and a lip tint. They will all be reviewed in due time, but here comes the first one. I present to you, the Brown Matte Lipstick. Brown is the name of the bear, btw.

The lipstick came in a separate brown box with Brown’s face on it, looking all cute. Technically, that’s all of the expression he ever makes. I haven’t thrown away the box like I usually would with ordinary lipstick because of it. Inside the box is a lipstick with (yet another) Brown’s face on the bottom half of the lipstick case, while the upper half is clear.

The lipstick bullet has a rounded tip, which makes it slightly tricky for my when applying it to my lips. I prefer the pointy tip, to help make application cleaner and more precise.

The shade I bought is Salsa Red, a reddish orange shade with a hint of brown tone. It falls under my category of ‘lipsticks that are too peach/orange for me’. Shades like that usually looks good on my mom, so off it goes to her after this swatch session.

As the name implies, it does look and feel matte, but it doesn’t dry out my lips as badly as other matte lipsticks. It applies smoothly without sinking into the cracks of my lips, but I do advise you to exfoliate your lips before applying any matte lipsticks. It just looks better and you won’t have to worry about it looking crackly once you’re finished applying. Also, it has SPF 17.

The longevity of this lipstick is average compared other matte lipsticks, as in, it disappears slightly after a meal. It doesn’t leave a stain on the edge of a drinking glass a few minutes after application. Overall, it is an interesting lipstick formula that doesn't dry out my lips. Unfortunately, the shade doesn't match me. The price is quite steep (Rp 197,000), probably due to the collaboration with LINE.

What about you? Have you tried this lipstick from the Missha x LINE FRIENDS collection? Let me know what you think about it in the comments below. Thanks for reading, and until then, I'll see you later~
