Valentine's Day is just around the corner, and men this week are buying hundreds of stereotypical stuffed bears holding chocolate bars to give to their girlfriends this coming Sunday. If you want to stand out to your lady, get her something she'll never forget and use forever: Heated Narwhal Slippers.
Nope, you didn't misread that. A company called Smoko has released a line of Heated slippers in a variety of designs, including narwhals, yeti feet, and s'mores-shaped shoes. In the narwhal model Smoko sent me, there's a little pouch in its forehead that you can unzip to insert the battery inside. The pouch isn't extremely obvious, and if you aren't paying much attention, it blends in to the seam down the center of the slipper. The slippers have two settings, Warm and very warm, and believe me when I tell you that they do get very warm if you're choosing that setting. The warm option lasts 3-4 hours, and the very warm option lasts 2-3. These are perfect for getting ready in the mornings since you can let them charge during the night and slip them on first thing when you wake up. Each shoe comes with a USB cable for charging, and they take anywhere from 2-3 hours to get a full charge.
I love these shoes. I was initially worried about the large battery in the top, thinking it might jab into my foot, but I've had no problem with that. My only issue would be that the heels on the slippers are very low, so the backs of my feet will slip out occasionally. The front of the slippers are very snug, which helps a lot with this, but I do recommend using them primarily when you aren't going to be moving a lot, like if you're eating breakfast, reading, or applying makeup.
Aside from the wonder that is heated footwear, these slippers are absolutely darling. They're like grown-up Stompeez but better. They're so comfortable and much more fun than regular slippers. They just look so happy! I mean, who wouldn't want my foot in their backside?
The slippers come in two models, USB and wireless. The USB models cost $35 while the wireless are $50, but the freedom to roam around the house in your toasty slippers without being restricted by a five-foot cable is well worth the additional price.
