Chanel Rouge Coco Bloom

Where has the time gone?!  I started working on this post a month ago, and then never got back to it til now.  Is pandemic-living still a valid excuse?  By now, it has become the norm… and all the talk about going back to regular office life suddenly feels bizarre to me.  But at least, that might give me an excuse to start wearing more lipstick.  And these new Chanel Rouge Coco Bloom really need to go places!

3 years in the making, with scientists in Chanel Research Laboratory in Japan and Paris working hand in hand, over 140 tests… Chanel Rouge Coco Bloom is an exquisite piece of design marvel.

A lipstick that has vivid color payoff, a lustrous shiny finish, AND long-lasting wear… that has always been the holy grail for me.  If you have been experimenting with lipsticks for as long as I have, you would probably take such claims with a pinch of salt.  After all, there always seem to be a tradeoff between shine and longevity, doesn’t it?  It is this very challenge that Chanel has taken on and finally succeeded with the Rouge Coco Bloom lipstick!

The black lacquered casing feels somewhat familiar to the Rouge Coco Flash [reviewed here].  Indeed, the shiny finishes and emphasis on lip comfort make these 2 soul sisters.  However, the new Rouge Coco Bloom is distinctive with its punchy colors.  Using an exclusive two-phase technology, Chanel is able to secure a high concentration of micronized pigments to the lips up to 8 hours; and micro-droplets of highly refractive oil adds shine and hydration.

There are 20 gorgeous shades to choose from, spanning nudes to pinks / oranges / reds to plums…  Here are some arm swatches to help you in your selection.

All the swatches above are single swipes, so you can see how pigmented these Chanel Rouge Coco Bloom lipsticks are.  The textures are so buttery smooth, they put even my best tinted lip balms to shame.  I have taken to wearing some of the nude shades around the house whenever my lips feel slightly dry, and am always surprised that the lipstick still remains at the end of the day.  The biggest surprise is that despite the glossy finish and high slick texture, the Chanel Rouge Coco Bloom does not rub off entirely onto my mask!  They are not entirely transfer proof, but if you are worried about smudging lipsticks under your mask, you can rest assured that will not happen.  And once the mask comes off, your lips still look irresistibly good!
