Rouge Bunny Rouge Collector’s Coffret Fragrant Confections

Love is in the air!  February is always a sweet season because of the romantic celebrations, and I hope you have something nice planned.  When I was preparing the Valentines’ Day gift guide a few days ago [here] I forgot to include something magical from the mystical gardens of Rouge Bunny Rouge.  And to correct that wrong, I’d like to introduce you to this elegant Collector’s Coffret of Fragrannt Confections (how lovely the names!) today.

Rouge Bunny Rouge’s fragrance line is as exquisite and luxurious as its makeup collection.  Separately titled Fragrance Confections and Provenance Tales, these Eau de Parfums are designed to be radiant and serene, and opulent and unrestrained respectively.  Each perfume is crafted around a story rooted in history, literature, philosophy and art; and a master perfumer is then invited to bring the olfactory vision to life.  The highest quality ingredients are used, and the exquisite brew housed in heavy satin glass bottles adorned with a unique floral illustration.

I’ve been wanting to try out Rouge Bunny Rouge fragrances in a very long time, but without access to a physical store, it is quite impossible to choose from the magical descriptors online.  So I was really excited when Rouge Bunny Rouge released special travel-sized Collector’s Coffret specially for this Valentine’s season!  There are 2 sets to choose from, with a selection of the best-selling scent from the Fragrant Confections and Provenance Tale series respectively, each set containing 3 deluxe-sized 15ml spray flacons.  The one I have here today is the Fragrant Confections set, and it contains Chatoyant, Vespers and Tenera.

Rouge Bunny Rouge Fragrant Confections Chatoyant is an ode to the exotic orchid, its presence as fleeting and radiant as the bloom.  Chatoyant opens with a fragrant burst of bergamot and lemon, beckoning with aromatic zest without too much tart.  Orchid weaves through a floral bouquet of jasmine, rose and lily of the valley… lending a powdery sense to an otherwise creamy heart.  With these big white florals, I was surprised that the resultant fragrance is artfully subtle, with a translucency that is modern and fresh.  A tapestry of sandalwood and cedar wood woven with vanilla and musk forms the base.  Light-hearted yet with an impressive longevity, Chatoyant stays on me for a good 8 hours before slowly fading away.

Rouge Bunny Rouge Fragrant Confections Vespers is an alluring musky woody scent composed of muguet and rose at the heart.  The juxtaposition of aromatic bergamot and tart green apple with warm cinnamon bark gives Vespers an interesting edge.  Violet shines through interspersed with crushed black pepper, in contrast against a gourmand vanilla, musk, cedar wood and sandalwood base.  There is something very familiar about Vespers, reminiscent of many tuberose and patchouli scents, but Vespers manages to be much lighter and devoid of heavy headiness.  For a scent of this genre, I was surprised to find Vespers relatively short-lived on my skin, disappearing completely within 4 hours.

Rouge Bunny Rouge Fragrant Confections Tenera is woody oriental with an interesting vanilla duality.  When I first spritzed it on my skin, I was first hit by a tart accord of black pepper, elemi, thyme and rosewood.  However within seconds, my little 5 year old in the room jumped up claiming he smelled ice cream… thanks to the entrance of rum, guaiac wood, patchouli and heliotrope, resting on a base of vanilla.  I am particularly enamoured by the base of amber, benzoin and leather, giving Tenera a textural quality.  Tenera is a beautiful complex fragrance, and quite possibly one of my favourites!
