Mon Guerlain, Notes of a Woman

It has been a long time since Guerlain released a new fragrance for the everyday woman… In the recent years we’ve seen several flankers for La Petite Robe Noir (reviewed here and here), but whilst the caricaturized couture shadow of LPRN dresses the woman, the new Mon Guerlain takes on a personal touch and celebrates the multi-faceted modern woman.

In creating Mon Guerlain, Master Perfumer Thierry Wasser had been inspired by Angelina Jolie, perhaps one of the most iconic ladies of this generation, celebrated as the modern renaissance woman.  Distilling the essence of the House’s oeuvre of over a thousand unique fragrances, Mon Guerlain is a love letter dedicated to all women.

Mon Guerlain starts off with just a tinge of bergamot for a thrilling start, but it soon gives way to a heart of Carla Lavender.  Grown in Provence, this variety has a sugary sweetness coupled with a herbaceous freshness.  Jasmine Sambac adds a white floral sweetness, and the Guerlain signature note of Vanilla lends the effect of a warm sensual embrace.  An aromatic blend of Sandalwood and Coumarin gives the dry-down a woody undertone.  On my skin, Mon Guerlain takes on a powdery, almost bitter feel thanks to the influence of Iris.  The entirety feels quite modern and feminine, yet still irrevocably Guerlain.  I experience moderate sillage with Mon Guerlain, and it lasts about 6 hours before fading gently.

For the very first time, Guerlain is presenting a mainstream fragrance in its iconic quadrilobe flacon, which was originally designed by Baccarat in 1908 and has been associated with the house’s pure parfums until now.  Just like Mon Exclusif, which was a luxurious limited edition released in 2015, Mon Guerlain is presented without a label, allowing the owner and wearer the option of personalising her bespoke scent.  The bottle I have here is engraved with my initials, and you too have the option of having that done or leaving it intact.  Whatever you choose to do with it, Mon Guerlain is bound to be close to your heart for a long time.
